Al Calderon Makes His Days Of Our Lives Debut

News that Al Calderon was joining Days Of Our Lives came from the soap itself back in April. They posted a photo on the official DOOL Instagram of him and another new cast member, Cherie Jimenez. He makes his Days Of Our Lives debut later this month. His first airdate is on October 28th. But who he plays is a mystery for now. Fans speculated on the April post that he might be a recast for Sonny (previously played by Zach Tinker) or Gabi’s brother, Dario, last played by Jordi Vilasuso. According to Michael Fairman TV, Calderon could possibly be a new Hernandez family member named “Javi.”

The journalist also speculated the actor could be a love interest for Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) since the character hasn’t had a love story in months. Could the mystery character play a role in fake Abigail’s scheme?

He Was  A Contestant On X Factor

Al Calderon may be new to soap operas, but he has an extensive acting resume. He’s had roles on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Walking Dead: The World Beyond, The Resident and more. You can catch him currently on FX’s Grotesquerie, which also stars General Hospital alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez and NFL player Travis Kelce in his first acting role.

The new soap star is a double threat. In addition to acting, he’s a singer, too. He was a contestant on Season 3 of X Factor in 2013. He impressed the judges by belting out Hall & Oates’ beloved song “Sara Smile” and Carly Rae Jepsen’s 2011 bop “Call Me Maybe.” Al Calderon came in third place on the Fox reality/singing competition when he was just 19.

In addition to this new character, Days Of Our Lives has some big treats in store for viewers next year for the show’s 60th anniversary. The soap recently announced a slew of fan-favorites returning, including Charles Shaughnessy as Shane and Christie Clark as Carrie Brady. The announcement came weeks after the soap confirmed Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso will resume their roles of Bo & Hope next year.
