Will Netflix’s ‘That ’90s Show’ Get A Season 3?
The only reason That ’90s Show exists on Netflix is because it’s a spinoff of That ’70s Show. The creators launched the original show, which became a massive hit for eight seasons starting in 1998. However, these days, the cast has been plagued with tons of scandals. Is the future of That ’90s Show hanging in the balance based on the issues that have recently surfaced about the cast members of That ’70s Show? These are the details.
That ’90s Show Renewed Or Cancelled On Netflix?
Sadly, that ’90s Show didn’t make the cut for a Season 3 renewal on Netflix. Viewers who enjoyed That ’70s Show back in the day had high hopes for the spinoff. That’s because the creators filled the original to the brim with edgy humor and witty comedy. Spinoffs don’t always perform as well as the originals they’re based on, so this might not come as the biggest shock in the world. Kurtwood Smith, the actor who plays Red Forman, shared an Instagram post to break the news. He wrote:
”I know you have been asking me when season 3 is coming, but I have tough news…Netflix will not be renewing. I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all of the fans everywhere who supported and watched the show. You have come up to me in random parts of the world when I’m traveling and reached out to me through social media and [have] just been so wonderful. I’ve loved every minute of getting to bring Grandpa Red to life for you all.”
That ’90s Show Fans Are Bummed Out
Kurtwood went on to hype the producers, directors, writers, and his fellow costars. He described the show as having tons of heart behind it with many awesome people working together to bring it to life. He also mentioned that they’re shopping around for another network to pick up the show. His comment section is full of fans who are heartbroken about the announcement:
- “THE ONE REBOOT THAT’S ACTUALLY GOOD. OMG WHAT IS NETFLIX THINKING?”
- “Netflix is always canceling what people actually want, it’s like they want to go under.”
- “I really liked the revival and the new generation did well. Netflix is stupidly bad about always canceling good shows.”

The scandals surrounding the cast of That ’70s Show could potentially be part of the reason for the cancellation. Ashton Kutcher is currently getting judged by fans for his long-lasting friendship with Diddy. The inappropriate way he treated Mila Kunis when she was a young teenager is also coming back to the surface.
Danny Masterson is currently serving time in prison for two counts of rape. Wilmer Valderrama was the subject of a scathing 2022 ballad by Demi Lovato accusing him of dating her when she was 17 years old and he was 29.
