Ken Jeong’s ‘Diddy’ Comment Angers ‘Masked Singer’ Fans
This week, The Masked Singer celebrated Footloose. That night there were four performers singing, and Snowbiord ended up unmasked. This saw Ship, Woodpecker, and Buffalos move on to the next round. However, fans after the episode were busy blasting Ken Jeong for a joke he made about Diddy.
Here is what Jeong said and what fans didn’t seem to understand about the episode.
Ken Jeong Makes Diddy Joke On The Masked Singer
After Woodpecker performed, Ken Jeong tried to guess her identity. Jeong guessed Willow Smith. However, the other panelists didn’t think it was a good clue. Robin Thicke said the clues lined up, but he didn’t agree with the guess.
Ken Jeong then asked Nick Cannon for his opinion. Nick kind of agreed that it could be Willow Smith, but he seemed a little unsure about it. “I definitely feel like it’s someone in Willow’s age group,” Nick said. However, Ken took the comments as an affirmative and got excited.
Ken got excited and replied, “Yes you’re right Diddy! I love you daddy!” fans raced online to bash Ken, saying he was being inconsiderate of the victims in the Diddy criminal case. The joke was easy since Cannon and Diddy were old friends. However, Cannon has recently made some jokes at Diddy’s expense. With that said, fans thought Jeong was being disrespectful (via Meaww).
With that said, fans blasting Ken for making these comments are very confused about The Masked Singer and its format.
The Masked Singer Was Filmed In June
The Masked Singer is not like American Idol and The Voice, which plays live for fans to vote on the winners. Instead, the entire season of The Masked Singer is taped pretty far in advance. Ken Jeong’s comments about Diddy was made long before the arrest ever happened.
In September 2024, law enforcement arrested Diddy, and the grand jury charged him with sex trafficking and racketeering. However, this season of The Masked Singer was filmed from June 6 to June 26. This episode was clearly filmed in the first week of June’s shooting schedule.
While the surveillance footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie Ventura was released in May, it was possibly still bad timing. However, anyone who thinks Ken Jeong was trying to make a joke based on the arrest doesn’t understand the filming schedule.
On this week’s The Masked Singer episode, Showbird was unmasked to reveal Ken Jeong’s former TV co-star Yvette Nicolle Brown. The two starred on Community together on NBC.

I never caught it and so it made no difference in how I feel about the show.
I caught it but it made bo difference as I knew it was tapped prior to the issues.
