‘Little House on the Prairie’ Cast Upset With Event Organizer
The classic historical drama Little House on the Prairie has many fans, complete with fan-events and gatherings. However, many of the stars of the series have taken issue with a former event promoter for the show. The cast-members have even taken to social media to reassure and explain the issue to fans.
The Series Had Many Events Planned Around The Country
Little House on the Prairie is an American Western historical drama, loosely based on the Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Michael Landon famously played the Ingalls patriarch, Charles Ingalls, with Laura herself played by actress Melissa Gilbert.
Originally running from 1974 to 1983, the series continues to have its fans, complete with events. However, such fan gatherings recently sparked controversy involving an event planner.
Fan promoter Jack Bishop and his company Gravel Road Markets came under fire after fans weren’t made aware that certain fan-events had been canceled. Notably, Bishop had his Little House on the Prairie event license revoked in September.
It came to light that “many fans traveled to Keystone, S.D., to attend what Jack Bishop should have announced weeks ago as a canceled Little House on the Prairie 50th Anniversary Event.” A similar issue happened from September 13-15, where Bishop failed to announce similar events in Missouri and Texas had been canceled. Reportedly, Eventbrite had listed such events as “Sold Out,” though they are now properly canceled.
The Cast Took To Social Media To Discuss The Issue
Little House on the Prairie cast-members responded to the issue in a letter and on social media. According to TV Line, a letter also asked Bishop to “remove our names and likenesses from sales and marketing assets supporting any upcoming Little House on the Prairie 50th Anniversary events produced or promoted by Gravel Road Markets, LLC.”
On Melissa Gilbert’s official Instagram account, a message made note of disappointing events in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. It was noted the decision to cut ties with Bishop and Gravel Road Markets was “not made lightly but with compassion, concern, and great respect for the well-being of our multi-generational fans.”

The message also noted that they hoped fan requests for refunds would be granted. The post also wrote, “Thank you for fifty years of loyalty and love. More to come, Little House Forever!”
In addition to Gilbert herself, the letter was also signed by a variety of cast-members. This included Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson, Dean Butler, who played Almanzo Wilder, and Charlotte Stewart, Miss Beadle’s actress.
