Actress Reese Witherspoon has announced big plans for prequel to her famous film, Legally Blonde. Witherspoon is looking for someone to headline the project, which will looks at Elle Woods’ high school days. However, the actress is trying to find her new star in an unexpected way.

Elle Woods Is Making Another Comeback

Witherspoon previously starred as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde back in 2001. In the film, based on the book of the same name, Woods is a sorority girl who gets abandoned by her boyfriend. She enrolls at Harvard Law to prove herself to him. In the end, however, she ends up solving a murder, winning her first big case, and even finds a new love.

The story’s themes of Woods both proving and staying true to herself proved popular with fans. Witherspoon later reprised the role in the sequel film, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. The character was also explored in a Broadway musical.

Laura Kittrell will serve as the series creator as well as a showrunner and executive producer. Witherspoon herself will serve as an executive producer. Other names attached to the project include Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky and Marc Platt.
