There never really was a friendship between Camila Cabello and Sabrina Carpenter. That’s probably because they both have a romantic history with the same guy… Shawn Mendes. Camila’s relationship with Shawn is more well-known since they dated from 2019 until 2021. They also briefly reconciled in 2023 with hopes of rekindling their love story forever. It didn’t work out that time either, though. While they were broken up, rumors about Shawn dating Sabrina ran rampant. Now, Camila and Sabrina are beefing, big time.

Camila Cabello Is Not Sabrina Carpenter‘s Biggest Fan

At the iHeartRadio Music Festival last weekend, Camila made it abundantly clear that she’s not gaga over Sabrina in the slightest. While Camila was performing her song “Señorita,” she skipped over one word in particular. The lyrics are supposed to say, “You say we’re just friends / But friends don’t know the way you taste.”

Camila didn’t sing the word “taste,“ and instead, she covered her lips with her finger and gave the audience a side-eye glance. Her choice to skip the word “taste,” was not coincidental. Sabrina just dropped the official music video for her song “Taste,” which is already being well-received by pop music lovers everywhere. In fact, the music video has more than 74.5 million views on YouTube as of this publication.

One of the reasons the song is doing so well is because Sabrina invited Jenna Ortega to star in the music video with her. In one scene, Sabrina and Jenna share a passionate kiss! The other obvious reason the song is doing well is because it’s genuinely just as catchy as Sabrina’s other bangers, “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.”

Camila Cabello And Sabrina Carpenter Won’t Likely Become Friends

When Camila chose to skip that word in her performance, it was the definition of a power move. “Señorita“ is a collaboration Camila dropped with Shawn back in 2019. It was such a hit that it amassed 1.7 billion views on YouTube since the music video was uploaded five years ago. If we’re referencing YouTube views alone, it’s safe to say that both Sabrina and Camila are absolutely killing the game as musicians in this modern era.

However, that doesn’t mean they’re ever going to link up for a collaboration. They have bad blood against each other with Shawn smack dab in the middle of their drama. It seems that a friendship between them would be totally unlikely. Rumors about Shawn and Sabrina started swirling just a few months before Shawn and Camila were seen kissing at Coachella in 2023.

The first time Camila shaded Sabrina was in a TikTok video when she sang lyrics to her own song “June Gloom.” The song is rumored to be about Sabrina. The scathing lyrics say, “She’s cool, I heard / Won’t act surprised, I saw the pictures.”
