Why Did Michael Bublé Reject Coach Position on ‘The Voice?’
Why did Michael Bublé reject the coach position on The Voice? The Season 26 coach revealed in an interview that this wasn’t the first time he was asked about the position and fans wonder why he would deny the hit series.
Michael Bublé Is ‘Feeling Good’
Michael Bublé recently became a coach for The Voice Season 26 and has made new bonds with the coaches like his bromance with Snoop Dogg. However, this is not the first time people have heard Michael’s name. He is well known for his music as a Canadian singer and songwriter.
Stepping away from his Christmas album roots, Bublé recently released a single with Drake, “Spicy Margarita.” Additionally, he released a hit in 2005, “Feeling Good” among other influential and loved pieces of music.
Michael Bublé is a family man first and foremost. He puts his wife and kids above any of his career opportunities which he revealed in a recent interview about his son’s battle with illness.
Moreover, the singer-turned-coach has been on many shows like The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Late Late Show With James Corden. With Corden, he sang his heart out in the carpool karaoke like many famous singers before him.
Bublé is ‘feeling good’ about his new position as coach, but he had denied the hit series multiple times before finally saying “yes.” This seemed strange and left fans with questions.
Why Did Bublé Reject The Voice?
When interviewed by Today, Michael Bublé disclosed that though this was his first time appearing on the reality show, it was not the first time he had been asked. Furthermore, he reportedly rejected the singing competition “15 to 16” times. Why would the Grammy winner deny the position? The current coach revealed he rejected the position due to the fear of pressure when judging contestants. However, he now believes that The Voice is different. He explained, “Thank God we’re not judges. The other shows have judges – we are coaches.”
The pop singer went on to say, “And the reason I say that is because most of the singers are better than me, and I have no place ever judging anyone.” Therefore, debunking any accusations that he rejected the position due to thinking he was above the show.
Bublé added, “So, to get to coach them and live the fantasy of having this career that I’ve had and then get to have the fulfillment of helping someone else get that? That’s the cool part.” The coach is thankfully not one of the singers who became entitled by his fame and success.
When asked about winning the competition, it was yet another humble remark from the Grammy winner. He expressed, “Man, my team is good. My team is really good, but everybody has good stuff happening on their team.”
Fans can catch Michael Bublé and the rest of the Season 26 coaches tonight, September 23rd at 8 pm ET on NBC. There is also next-day streaming on Peacock.
