‘DWTS’ Ex-Convict Anna Delvey Wants New Title On Show

Dancing With The Stars ex-convict Anna Delvey wants a new title on the show. Though she is described as an entrepreneur and fashionista, she revealed that she requested a different identification for DWTS.

Anna Delvey who is also referred to as Anna Sorokin is known to most as a con artist and fraudster. She pretended to be a wealthy heiress to be a part of the New York social and art scenes for the upper class. She performed this stunt from 2013 to 2017.

Her citizenship has changed over time as she was born in the Soviet Union and born Russian. Then, in 2007, she and her family emigrated to Germany when she was 16 years old.

Delvey was in prison for four years before being released in 2021. Then, she was placed on house arrest. The con artist even got a Netflix series about her called Inventing Anna. It was released in 2022 and has one season released.

DWTS Adds Convict

Things are changing for the fraudster as she recently joined Dancing With The Stars. She is currently partnered with Ezra Sosa. Furthermore, Delvey was charged with grand larceny and had to receive approval from ICE to move for DWTS from New York City to Los Angeles.

However, to do this move, she had to wear her ankle monitor. Fans wonder how she can compete due to the legal ramifications since she is on house arrest. She took to the premiere to tell fans that it wasn’t just a fashion choice.

The first performance from Delvey and her partner Sosa was a cha-cha dance to ‘Espresso’ by Sabrina Carpenter. Sosa is a DWTS pro but joins as a pro for the first time this season. Delvey wore a bedazzled ankle monitor to match their outfits.

Their performance got an 18 out of 30 from the judges. The DWTS judges are Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. Inaba believed the audience seemed to change their “energy” when Delvey and Sosa came on stage to perform.

What Did She Want Her Title To Be?

In a TikTok video on September 21st, Sosa revealed that being referred to as an “entrepreneur and fashionista” was not what Delvey had in mind. Within the video, he asked her what she wanted to be referenced as.

Furthermore, this is when Delvey expresses that she wants to be known as an “ankle bracelet model.” It is clear to fans that this was meant to reference her con artist background and it seems she is not ashamed of her past. Additionally, it seems she wants to make a joke out of it.

Moreover, The DWTS pro revealed, “But, they declined.” Then, he added, “So, ‘Fashionista and entrepreneur’ [was chosen].” Therefore, it seems the dancing show did not want to put too much of a spotlight on the criminal activity despite adding a convict to their show.
