This week, The View seemed to start with a chaotic moment. The women came out to the introductions and settled into their spots. After this, moderator Whoopi Goldberg began to deliver her opening monologue, but she was distracted. It seems Sunny Hostin was panicking about something in her eyeline.

Here is what happened and why Sunny disrupted the opening.

Sunny Hostin Distracts From The View Opening Segment

The View had a special episode underway, and the show was going to feature Hillary Rodham Clinton, the former United States Secretary of State. While it seemed things would be completely under control here, that isn’t quite what happened.

After the ladies entered to The View’s new theme song, Whoopi tried to start the show. She said, “Hello, hello, hello…A lot of Americans feel cautiously optimistic,” but then she stopped. She was looking at Sunny Hostin, who was clearly animated at the other end of the table.

Whoopi looked at Sunny, who was frantically waving to someone at the side of the stage. “What are you doing? Are you Ok?” Whoopi asked Sunny. The co-host showed Whoopi her phone and said she accidentally brought it to the stage with her.

“I accidentally brought my phone, and I don’t want my children to call me during the show, and I’m asking Nicky to take my phone,” Sunny explained. Joy Behar then spoke up and asked, “Since when do you care who calls you during the show?”

She has had her phone ring on stage before, interrupting a past interview. With Clinton on the show, Hostin clearly wanted to make sure it didn’t happen again.

Sunny Hostin Says She Is A ‘Mess’ Right Now

Sunny Hostin has been struggling lately, which might be why Whoopie Goldberg was concerned on The Voice this week. The host said her problem is dropping her youngest child, Paloma, off at college, and now she no longer has her child at home with her anymore.

“I got to drop off my daughter at college and become an empty nester. And I’m a mess; I’m in grief. I have Kelly Ripa giving me advice,” Sunny said.  She admitted that she will be grieving for a few weeks as she tries to get past this changing time in her life.

With the new set and design, it seems all the women are taking some time to get used to the new season. While Sunny is struggling, Whoopi seems easily distracted, but it all makes for some entertaining television.

Did you find Sunny Hostin panicking about her phone on The View to be funny? Do you think she is still struggling about sending her youngest off to college? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. I found the phone incident distracting.
The women have to learn to comment and reflect without talking over each other. Whoopie seems to have a problem staying focused.
