‘Bold And Beautiful’ Rebecca Budig Talks Hunter Tylo Controversy
There is a lot of controversy around a current The Bold and The Beautiful storyline. This is the storyline that sees Rebecca Budig playing Taylor in the daytime soap opera. However, there is a huge age difference between Budig and the actress who played Taylor before, Hunter Tylo.
Here is what Budig had to say about this controversial casting.
Rebecca Budig Discusses Playing Taylor On The Bold and The Beautiful
Hunter Tylo played Taylor before Rebecca Budig joined The Bold and The Beautiful cast. Tylo is 62, which makes Taylor older than many other characters on the daytime soap. However, she left the series, and Rebecca Budig signed on to play Hunter. There is one problem, though. Budig is 51.
That is an 11-year age difference between the two women. This is nothing really new, though, as many actors play characters that are very different ages than they are in real life. For example, people in their late 20s sometimes play teenagers in dramas.
However, fans have taken notice in this case, and some are not happy. In a recent interview, Buidig was asked about the age difference (via The TV Watercooler).
“Well, I think that’s why I ultimately thought I wasn’t right for it! Because I was younger than Hunter, for sure,” Rebecca said. “There is an age difference, but that’s not for me to worry about.”
Budig said that she is a mother, and she can relate to being a mom and caring about her kids and grandkids. She said she has many nieces and nephews who feel like her grandchildren. She said that is the “feeling” she relates to.
“I was surprised but I was also super-excited because it’s such a great role. I really had no idea until I started to really dig deeper,” Budig said. “For me in particular, I like playing someone that’s not a ‘bad girl.’ It’s just fun. It’s different.”
What Is Up With Rebecca Budig On The Bold And The Beautiful?
Rebecca Budig has joined The Bold and The Beautiful as Dr. Taylor Hayes. She is the third actress to play the character, following Hunter Tylo and Krista Allen. Ironically, while Budig is 11 years younger than Tylo, she is only two years younger than Allen.
This means she is close to the same age as Taylor’s other actress. It was also a nice change for Budig, who has played Greenlee on All My Children for so long. She said that she is excited to play a doctor, someone who is “different than anything I’ve played.”

Watched today & was so, so glad that the story line is to FINALLY get Taylor out! At least I hope the writers stick
with their plan. Today, the Taylor character confided in Li that she has “Heart disease & is dying….”
I just hope this is the case…so sick of the Ridge-Brooke-Taylor trio and WHINY Stephanie, like a kid, not accepting her parents not being together anymore. Although, watch what the PREDICTABLE WRITERS on B&B do…..they will probably have it come out that Taylor is dying, somehow manage to get Ridge & Taylor back together again so SHE & BABY STEFFY can be happy for her remaining days and then….wonder of all wonders….Taylor will be cured & Ridge will be
S-T-U-C-K with Taylor. If that happens…forget it….NO MORE B&B for me.
Goodbye then!
Nobody will miss you!!!
