Actress Angela Kinsey is set to star in her very first Hallmark Channel Christmas movie, Confessions of a Christmas Letter. The actress herself admitted that the movie reflects a part of her real-life holiday traditions. The project will also be the first time Kinsey, best known for her work on The Office, headlined a Hallmark Christmas movie.

A Holiday Story Of Mix-Ups, Misunderstandings, & Writer’s Block

In the film, Kinsey will play Settie Rose, an eccentric family matriarch who competes in her town’s yearly letter-writing contest.

Settie has some special help, a struggling novelist named Juan, who she hopes will help her write the winning holiday letter.

However, a rumor starts up that Juan is going to marry Settie’s daughter Lily. The family decides to play along with the mix-up. All the while Juan overcomes his writer’s block while Settie learns to embrace her family as they are.

Kinsey is arguably best known for playing Angela Martin on The Office. She also reprised the role for 10 webisodes of The Office: The Accountants. Notably, Brian Baumgartner, who played Kevin Malone on The Office, is expected to make a special appearance in the upcoming Christmas movie.

Alec Santos, known for Firefly Lane and Sight Unseen, has been cast as Juan. Lillian Doucet-Roche, known for The Cases of Mystery Lane: Death is Listening, has been cast as Lily, the daughter of Kinsey’s character.

Kinsey Admitted A Personal Connection To The Story

The project is believed to be the first time Kinsey has worked on a Hallmark projects, let alone of the network’s famous Christmas movies.

While discussing the movie, Kinsey revealed that holiday letter-writing is important to her real-life holiday celebrations, too.

As the actress explained, according to Deadline, “I look forward to Christmas letters from family and friends every year. You always get great details about your loved ones’ lives, who made the soccer team, and where they vacationed.”

“Then there is always that one family member who embellishes quite a bit or might overshare about a medical procedure. I live for them! They are such a fun holiday tradition.”

“So, when I read this script about a small-town Christmas letter-writing contest, I was in! This movie has laughs and a lot of heart, and I’m so proud to be a part of the Hallmark family.”

In addition, on behalf of Hallmark Media, programming director Camden Simmons added that:

“This one-of-a-kind holiday film provides viewers with all of the ingredients they know, love and expect from Hallmark, with an extra spice of humor only Kinsey can deliver.”

Confessions of a Christmas Letter is expected to release sometime later this year as part of Hallmark Channel’s 15th Annual Countdown to Christmas event.
