Kelly Reilly Discusses Potential For More ‘Yellowstone’
Yellowstone is expected to end with its fifth season. However, actress Kelly Reilly has talked about how the series could possibly be revived. That said, the series is still expected to live on in another way.
Reilly Would Stay On For If Series Creator Is Involved
English actress Kelly Reilly plays Bethany “Beth” Dutton on the series. Although it’s believed the series is ending with its fifth season, this might not necessarily be the case for Reilly’s character.
Deadline reported that there had originally been interest in a sixth season featuring Reilly and Cole Hauser, who plays Beth’s love-interest Rip Wheeler. That said, even if the series doesn’t get a sixth season, Reilly suggested there were “talks” to keep the story going.
Reilly said that nothing had been officially confirmed, but she said she would be willing to continue in her role if series creator Taylor Sheridan stayed on. As noted by Entertainment Weekly, she explained:
“[If] Taylor wants to write it, I would want to do it. That’s it. Because he’s the one that’s written every single line I’ve ever said. She came from his imagination. But we’re both in agreement that there’s a shift that has to take place. Because you can’t keep telling the same story. This story is ending. Yellowstone as we know it is ending, but if there is more story to tell with some of the characters, it’s going to be a little different.”
There Have Been A Few Spin-Offs & Possibly More To Come
Paramount had previously announced a spin-off of the series, 2024, which had Matthew McConaughey attached.
In a statement with The Hollywood Reporter, Sheridan described McConaughey as a “natural fit,” adding:
“We had a few conversations over the years, and spitballed a few ideas. Then he started watching Yellowstone and responded to it. He was like, ‘I want to do that.’ And by ‘that’ he meant diving into a raw world clashing up against the modern world. And then I said, ‘Buddy, that we can do.'”
The spin-off was later retitled The Madison, with Michelle Pfeiffer attached. She is set to play a wealthy matriarch, Stacy Clyburn, who leaves New York for Montana, following the death of her husband and brother-in-law. The series is expected to air in 2025.
The Paramount Network series already has two spin-offs in the prequels, 1883 and 1923. A few more spin-offs are believed to be in development. One series, 6666, would revolve around a ranch featured in the series’ fourth and fifth seasons. A prequel series 1944, set in the year marked by the title, will serve as a sequel to 1923.
The first half of the fifth season initially premiered on November 13, 2022. The second half is set to premiere on November 10, 2024.
