Collin Gosselin Releases Medical Records To Prove Kate Wrong
When Collin Gosselin was 11, his mother, Kate Gosselin, had him committed to a mental health facility and left him there. According to Kate, he had several mental health issues, and she claimed he was a danger to those around him. That caused him to learn he could no longer serve in the Marines, and now he is fighting back.
Collin just made his medical records public and showed that he does not have the mental health issues his mother had claimed. Here is what you need to know.
Collin Gosselin Releases Medical Records
Collin Gosselin was locked away in the mental health facility until he finally got a message to his father asking him to save him. Jon Gosselin finally got his son released and took custody. After that, Collin graduated from high school and joined the Marines.
Sadly, he learned recently that the Marines were discharging him because he was admitted to a mental health facility as a child. This ruined his dreams and plans, and he blames his mother. Collin wanted to put the issue behind him, but his mother posted an Instagram post last year saying he was “violent and unpredictable” with mental health issues.
Kate had Collin diagnosed with conditions including bipolar, autism, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and PTSD. Kate then put him on several medications and then had him institutionalized when he was 11.
Jon fought for custody when Collin reached out for his help. Once he took custody, Jon and his then-partner Colleen helped wean Collin off the medications under the care of doctors. He got Collin back into school for the first time in years, and the young man graduated with honors.
Collin Gosselin Trying To Get Back Into Marines
“So I was in [Marine] training, pretty far through and I was very close to graduating and my mother made a post online and this post went insanely viral,” Collin said (via The U.S. Sun). This is what led to his discharge.
“I wasn’t able to prove that I had a diagnosis and provide sufficient evidence that these were false until I got home,” Collin said. “And that’s when I sought out to get a professional psychiatric evaluation done. And that ultimately ruled out all of these diagnoses.”
The Marines said they would reevaluate after seeing the medical records. Now, Collin has released his personal medical records. Psychologist Dr. Paul E. Delfin completed “a comprehensive psychological evaluation” of Collin and ruled out the six diagnoses.
Delfin wrote that Collin “does not meet criteria for any of the diagnoses of concern.” He also wrote, “Nor do I see evidence to indicate any other psychiatric diagnoses or behavioral disorder in his current functioning.”
Collin Gosselin Also Says Kate Gosselin Abused Him
Collin also made some horrific accusations about the treatment his mother inflicted on him when he was a child. Jon Gosselin backed up the claims and said Hannah told them the same thing. According to Collin, Kate would zip-tie his hands and feet and lock him in a small basement room, often leaving him there for an entire day.
Jon backed this up, saying the people who bought his and Kate’s old house asked about the small basement room with one bed and a lock outside the door. He also said that Hannah told him that Kate would keep Collin isolated constantly, often forcing him to eat alone.
Kate’s former lawyer, Richard Puleo, also responded, saying that she did what she felt was necessary to “protect” her other children.
Jon Gosselin is adamant about defending his son. “She tried to prove that he has mental health issues so he doesn’t have viability when he talks to the press,” Jon said. “She discredits him by saying he’s got all these illnesses. I believe, because he was institutionalized, he wouldn’t at that time have been able to go to court and testify.”
