Tyrese Gibson was already successful in his own right for some time. However, when he landed a coveted role in what would eventually become the Fast And The Furious franchise, this led to a recurring role in one of the most popular film franchises ever.
In the franchise, Roman (Tyrese Gibson’s character) is used to getting a lot of attention from the ladies. However, when it comes to the real-life Tyrese, he is dealing with a very public situation related to his ex, and it recently had him in some hot water. So, what happened with this situation?
Actor Tyrese Arrested, Why?
Based on recent reports from TMZ, Tyrese was in custody for failing to pay child support. Tyrese shares a five-year-old with his ex-wife, Samantha Lee. The singer and actor has been candid about the way his ex finessed him in order to secure child support payments.
Based on the latest tea related to this situation, it seems Tyrese Gibson is behind on these payments, to the tune of $73k. Back in April of 2023, the actor was ordered to pay $10k a month in support. Because of how much he owes, he was held in contempt of court.

What Happens Now With This Situation?
Whether or not Tyrese’s ex pulled a fast one on him to secure the bag, the fact remains that he is still legally on the hook for these child support payments. Based on the latest developments from this situation, Tyrese Gibson was released from custody after his attorney filed an appeal.
Because of this appeal, he was also able to leave without paying the $73k. At the same token, that does not mean that the ledger is clean. Tyrese still owes the $73k in back child support. As of 2024, Celebrity Net Worth puts Gibson’s finances in the ballpark of $2M.
Considering how long he has been part of the successful Fast And The Furious franchise, this seems to be a conservative estimate. However, between him and his lawyer, they may need to figure out something quickly. So that he does not end up in more trouble due to owing child support.

Tyrese has certainly been vocal about how he got played. While that may be the case, that still does not change the ruling that the judge made. Also, because his child is only a few years old, those child support payments will most likely be coming for the foreseeable future.
