It is almost time for the fall television season to start up again. The excitement is growing as Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med are all about to start up again. However, there has been some confusion about when they will hit NBC.

Here is what you need to know about the show’s upcoming season and when it will finally be back.

When Is Chicago Fire Premiering New Season?

There is currently a set date for the shows’ return to NBC. However, the date could have changed based on the upcoming Presidential Debate.

Right now, Chicago Fire Season 13 is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 25, at 9/8c on NBC. The episode will follow Chicago Med’s Season 9 premiere. The Season 12 premiere of Chicago P.D. airs directly after Fire. Episodes also stream the next day on Peacock.

With that said, there were concerns that the possibility of the Presidental Debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump could screw up that premiere date. NBC wants all three shows premiering on the same night, so the debate taking place on September 25 would cause all three shows to move.

With that said, there is good news for fans of the Chicago shows. The Presidential Debate will take place on September 10 at 9 EST and will last for 90 minutes. This means there will be no interference, and the shows will premiere when they are supposed to. This could only change if the Vice Presidential Debate between Tim Walz and J.D. Vance gets scheduled for September 25.

What To Expect From New Chicago Fire Season

There will be lots of changes on Chicago Fire this season. The exit of former Chief Eamonn Walker leads to a new member of the One Chicago family. Dermot Mulroney will join as Fire Chief Dom Pascal, who will take over at the station.

This should lead to lots of drama with returning characters like Kelly Severide. “As the show keeps growing, these characters keep growing. There’s the challenge of what’s the next cool call?” said showrunner Andrea Newman (via CBR).

Newman also said that things are going to get dark. “It is a new era [of Chicago Fire] in lots of ways, though the core family is still together and will need each other to manage the twists and turns ahead,” Newman said. “Fans can expect some darker themes [in Season 13], with new challenges, battles, and thrills as things get shaken up at 51.”

This will be the 13th season of Chicago Fire, the 12th season of Chicago P.D., and the 10th season of Chicago Med.
