Elle Macpherson Rejects Chemo In Breast Cancer Battle, Why?
Elle Macpherson revealed that she had a breast cancer diagnosis seven years ago. However, while 32 different doctors gave her advice to start chemotherapy, the supermodel refused. In a recent interview, she sat down and talked about the diagnosis and revealed why she chose not to start chemotherapy.
Here is what Elle had to say about the cancer and what she did instead of chemo.
Elle Macpherson Refuses Chemo Treatments For Breast Cancer
Elle Macpherson, 60, said she was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago. She said it was a diagnosis following a lumpectomy, and it came as a “shock” to her. 32 different doctors told her that she needed to start chemotherapy treatments for the disease. She refused.
In an interview with Australia’s Women’s Weekly magazine, Elle said it was “unexpected, it was confusing, it was daunting in so many ways. And it really gave me an opportunity to dig deep in my inner sense to find a solution that worked for me.”
She said she needed to find her “own truth” and decide based on her belief system. Macpherson, who has always promoted anti-vaccine campaigns, said that she wouldn’t undergo chemotherapy.
Doctors recommended that she undergo a mastectomy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and breast reconstruction surgery. She rejected all these options and instead began to fight cancer with traditional medicine instead. Rather than go with chemo and proven medical treatments, she chose a holistic method.
When asked about her current cancer diagnosis, Elle said she was in “utter wellness.” When asked what that meant, she said, “In traditional terms, they’d say I’m in clinical remission.”
What Did Elle Macpherson’s Family Think Of Her Decision?
When Elle Macpherson made her decision to reject traditional medical cancer treatments, it caused some concern from her family. Her two sons were divided on their thoughts, and her husband also had concerns.

“Cy simply thought that chemo kills you,” Elle said of her youngest son. She said the 21-year-old never “wanted me to do it because he thought that was a kiss of death.” However, her older son was a little more concerned. Flynn, 26, was not comfortable with her choice.
Her husband, Busson, 61, also didn’t agree with Elle’s choice to reject cancer treatment. However, he stood by her decision and praised her for her “courage.”
Elle went on to say that this was the hardest choice she ever had to make. “Sometimes an authentic choice from the heart makes no sense to others,” Elle said. “But it doesn’t have to. People thought I was crazy but I knew I had to make a choice that truly resonated with me.”
