‘DWTS’ Season 33 Casts An Incredibly Controversial Figure
Every year, the Dancing With The Stars casting department strives to land talent who will pique interest. In addition to athletes, beloved singers, and talented actors, they also sometimes like to cast controversial people.
Up until Gypsy Rose Blanchard announced her pregnancy, many believed she would compete this fall. Now, it seems like the casting department shifted gears and went with another controversial person.

DWTS Season 33 Reportedly Cast A Con Artist
From Sean Spicer to Adrian Peterson, there have been many publicly disliked competitors on DWTS over the years. But this year, they reportedly chose someone with an entire career built on infamy and deceit.
Page Six confirms that controversial figure Anna Delvey is going to be part of Dancing With The Stars Season 33. Many remember when Delvey was arrested back in 2019 for pretending to be a German heiress with the goal of conning businesses and wealthy individuals. She ultimately made off with more than $250,000. Netflix released Inventing Anna based on her life.
For the past two years, Anna Delvey has been under house arrest and waiting to find out if she can stay in the United States once her sentence is over. Page Six also shares that her house arrest conditions were relaxed, meaning she could work and travel within a certain distance from her home.

Viewers Aren’t At All Excited To See Anna Delvey Compete
On Reddit, many Dancing With The Stars fans found the casting choice incredibly bizarre. This wouldn’t be the first time DWTS cast a controversial figure. Season 29 featured Tiger King star Carole Baskin.
However, it’s not every day that they cast someone who is solely famous because of their criminal record.

- “This is SOOO NOT FAIR to the pros. Whoever gets paired with her would likely get voted off so quick. That sucks. I hope this isn’t true.”
- “Stop giving horrible people a platform because you want more views and engagement. People shouldn’t be rewarded this opportunity for being problematic when there are actual talented celebs and entertaining public figures that would do the show.”
- “Are they gonna bedazzle her ankle monitor or what”
- “If this is true this is the type of chaotic and campy casting choices I live for 💀💀 what tf would she even be introduced as for her career?”
Others pointed out that Anna Delvey could be the source of the leak. If so, it’s not entirely credible.
