Jeopardy! champions have been making a name for themselves lately. The main host of the series is a former champion, Ken Jennings. There are also many other cases where former champs have started to branch out and make their names known, including some becoming hosts on different shows. Mattea Roach is the latest to do so.

Here is a look at what Jeopardy! champion Mattea Roach has lined up with their new hosting duties.

Mattea Roach Has A New Hosting Gig

Mattea Roach remains the most successful Canadian to ever appear on Jeopardy! She appeared in 2022 and had a 23-game winning streak. This put them in sixth place all-time for winning streaks in the regular season on the show. She also won $560,983 during her run and gave a correct answer to 93% of their buzzed answers.

The tough part was that Roach lost the streak to Danielle Maurere by just $1. However, she qualified for the Tournament of Champions, losing to Andrew He. She later placed second to James Holzhauer in the first season of Jeopardy! Masters in 2023.

In 2022, Roach started hosting The Bankbench, a political interview podcast in Canada. In 2023, they served as a panelist on Canada Reads. Now, Roach has a new hosting gig. The Jeopardy! Champion signed on to host CBC Radio’s Bookends, a program about books and literature.

“I’m enough of a cynic that I gave up on the idea of a ‘dream job’ forever ago, but if reading books and interviewing authors for the national public broadcaster isn’t a dream job I don’t know what is,” Roach wrote on Instagram. “Bookends begins airing September 8, I am so proud and excited.”

Jeopardy! Has New Spinoffs Coming

There is a spinoff of Jeopardy! coming to Prime Video that will focus on pop culture questions. However, instead of bringing in a former champion to host it, the network chose to bring in SNL star Colin Jost.

That said, a recent job offer went out for someone to work for the franchise, and that offer indicated that Pop Culture Jeopardy! wasn’t the only spinoff in the works. It also looks like Sports Jeopardy! is coming back. While sports host Dan Patrick led the show last time it was on the air, there is always a chance that a former champion could also be a good fit.

Are you excited to hear about Mattea Roach’s job after her stint as a Jeopardy! champion? Do you plan to listen? What former champion do you think would be a good fit as a host for one of the spinoff shows? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
