Collin Gosselin Discharged From Marines, Why?
It seemed like Collin Gosselin was getting his life together. He had spent years as a pre-teen and early teen locked away in a mental health facility. According to Collin, he was alone, and his mother, Kate Gosselin, placed him there and rarely returned to see him. Jon Gosselin finally got his son out a few years later, and he has been with his dad ever since.
Collin made his next move when he signed up for the Marines. However, thanks to the fact his mother placed him in the mental health facility, he has now been discharged before graduation.
Collin Gosselin Discharged From Marines
Collin Gosselin was working hard to get his life together. He and his sister Hannah have lived with Jon for a few years while their siblings remained with their mother. Sadly, Kate has continued to claim her son has serious mental health issues as he tries to move on with his life. His siblings with Kate have also continued to talk bad about him as well.
Now, his dream of becoming a Marine has ended, as well. According to Collin, his mother is to blame for his dreams of becoming a Marine ending. Collin, 20, said he was nearing the end of training, and was close to graduating. However, he said the Marines looked into paperwork concerning his childhood and saw he was institutionalized at one point.
“Being in an institution, that’s good enough … to discharge,” Collin said (via Entertainment Tonight). “It was the fact that I was in an institution and that’s it.”
Collin was only 12 when Kate Gosselin had him institutionalized, and then he said she left him there for two years. Collin said his mother never came to see him and finally, after two years, he got in touch with his dad, who was able to get him out.
Collin Gosselin & Kate Gosselin’s Relationship Troubles
Kate Gosselin said that Collin had “special needs,” and that required him to be institutionalized when he was 12 years old. His sister Mady said that he had “physically threatened me and every member of my immediate family.”
However, Collin said he was abused by Kate, and when he began to tell people about it, she had him locked away where he couldn’t say anything else. While Mady took Kate’s side, Hannah took Collin’s side. Hannah said that Kate separated Collin from his siblings and would not allow him to play with the other kids or even have dinner with them.
Even when Jon got Collin out and lived with his small family of Collin and Hannah, Kate still claimed that the boy needed to be institutionalized, saying he was “unpredictable and violent.” Collin graduated from high school with Hannah, but it still didn’t seem to change Kate’s mind.
