Katy Perry Under Investigation In Spain, Why?
Former American Idol judge Katy Perry seems to have found herself in some hot water in Spain, including a major investigation. So, what did Perry get herself into this time around?
Katy Perry Left American Idol To Pursue Other Things
As is typically the case when you have celebrity judges on a reality competition, at a certain point, they leave in order to pursue other things. Viewers have seen this with celeb judges on programs like The Voice. In Katy Perry’s case with American Idol, it was very much the same.
After serving as a judge on American Idol for years, Katy Perry left in order to pursue other things. The one silver lining from this is the fact that Carrie Underwood is on board to replace the Dark Horse singer. So, in many ways, this switch worked out well for everyone.
Perry Filmed New Music Video In Spain
As much as American Idol fans grew to love the judging trio of Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, it was clearly time for a change for Katy. From the looks of it, she didn’t waste any time, either. Her new music video for her song Lifetimes premiered just a few short days ago, and already, it has millions of views on platforms like YouTube.
Katy Perry leans into the island theme on her new hit, a song that truly encapsulates everything that makes a summer anthem. Lifetimes is the latest single that is on her upcoming studio album, 143.
The record is officially Katy Perry’s seventh studio album, and, not surprisingly, there’s a lot of hype surrounding it ahead of its eventual release on September 20, 2024.
Singer Under Investigation In Spain?
While Katy Perry’s latest single and music video has the party vibe of the summer, it turns out, the reality is looking to be far from that. According to a press release from the Balearic Islands’ Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, the production company behind the new music video “had not requested authorization” to film.
In addition, there are also “alleged violations.” For example, filming happened at a protected site, the sand dunes of S’Espalmador.
As of this writing, there is a preliminary investigation into this matter, which will also look at other factors like possible environmental damage and more. So, while the song and accompanying music video are all about partying it up, the sobering reality is far from it.
Certainly, it’ll be worth keeping an eye on this situation to see if any real consequences come down as a result. However, controversy like this could also boost the song and video even more, ahead of the eventual release of the full studio album.
