‘General Hospital’ Kirsten Storms Shocks Fans With Black Eye
Kirsten Storms worried fans over the weekend after she posted a photo on social media. The snapshot made it look like the General Hospital star had a wicked black eye. What Happened To Maxie’s Face?
A photo posted by the GH star had fans doing a double-take to make sure Kirsten Storms was okay. The actress, who plays Maxie on the ABC soap opera, shared the picture on Instagram, showing off her unexpected black eye.
In the black-and-white selfie, Kirsten appeared to be pouting. Her whole eye and one side of her face seemed to be covered in a black powder. Many fans wondered what happened to the General Hospital star and if she was hurt.
However, in the caption, the 40-year-old actress revealed what really happened.
Apparently, she opened a canister of coffee and it exploded into her face. “One of those ‘funny story, but not funny when I need coffee’ moments…,” Kirsten wrote in the caption. “I’ve opened several canisters of @illy_coffee tins and never have the grounds exploded out of that cute metal container. There is a first time for everything.”
The GH star continued, “I can say with certainty that I prefer my coffee brewed in hot water (or over ice)…straight from the container doesn’t taste that good.”
While there was nothing seriously wrong, Kirsten Storms had fans concerned at first glance. Several people wondered if the black eye was part of a new storyline on General Hospital. Fellow GH star Finola Hughes commented, “I thought it was a General Hospital storyline!! I’m thinking ‘who would dare to give Maxie a black eye?”
A fan chimed in, “Not me thinking you had filmed a crazy scene for the show and this was your makeup.”
Others remained concerned, despite Kirsten’s explanation of what happened. “Quick moment had me thinking ‘does she needs backup?'” a fan wrote in the comments. Another wanted to clarify, “Ok so that’s coffee, right? Not a bruise?”
How Did Kirsten Storms Get On General Hospital?
For long-time General Hospital fans, Kirsten Storms has been a main character for nearly 20 years. Before she made it onto the beloved soap opera, she was on the Disney Channel. She starred in the Zenon trilogy as Zenon Kar. Later, she took on the role of Bonnie Rockwaller in Kim Possible.
Kirsten got her start in the world of soap operas on Days Of Our Lives in 1999. She appeared on the soap until 2004 and then landed her role as Maxie on General Hospital in 2005. While she’s been a constant in the show for 20 years, she has taken few breaks in her acting career over the last 10 years.
In 2016, she had to take a break from her role as Maxie to address some skin problems she was having. Then, in 2021, the actress had to take some time off from GH to undergo brain surgery. Thankfully for fans, Kirsten Storms is happy and healthy, she just has a face full of coffee grounds.
