‘Deadliest Catch’ Was Sig Hansen’s Man Overboard A Drill?

Sig Hansen Seems To Be A Good Mariner
Ahead of Season 20 of the Discovery Channel show, Clark Pederson’s father-in-law spoke about his greatest fear of the Bering Sea. Well, it turned out that he fears the unpredictability of the weather. Of course, there are other dangers to consider.
This Season, a fire broke out on F/V Wizard. Like the man overboard on Sig Hansen’s vessel, some skeptics of Deadliest Catch think it was staged drama for the show. These days, many Discovery Channel viewers think that almost everything is staged or scripted.

Deadliest Catch Man Overboard
On Reddit, a skeptic wondered about the dramatic scenes. Clark Pederson and a camera operator were checking crab pots near the side of the boat. And, it seemed that they had jumped off the boat. So the OP wrote,:
Deadliest Catch reaching the End?…Has Deadliest Catch gone overboard in the Scripting tonight? The whole Clark/ cameraman l overboard stunt? I say stunt, cause I doubt it was Clark and a cameraman going overboard…I suspect 2 stuntmen. This show is really starting to reach, in order to maintain viewership!
In the comments, some Discovery Channel viewers agreed that whether Sig Hansen acted or not, it’s about entertainment. Meanwhile, others become irritated with the continuous discussion about too much scripting.
A Safety Drill?
When the teaser for the episode dropped on YouTube, others also discussed the possibility that the scene wasn’t really an emergency. They felt that it could have been a safety drill. Here are their thoughts.
- And this is why some Captains who work in those waters hold safety drills…
- This is them running drills awesome job guys when it happens for real I hope you get them back just as fast.
- Fake. So the cameraman jumps in after him in calm water. I can hear the drama in Sigs voice.
- That was staged they just jumped in lol.
What are your thoughts about the man overboard on Sig Hansen’s vessel? Do you think it could have simply been a drill so the crew is fully prepared when it happens? If added drama educates, does that matter? After all, the show entertains viewers. Do you still love watching it?
