Greg Vaughan Breaks Silence Over ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Exit
After years of bumps in their romance, Eric Brady and Nicole Walker got their happily ever after on Days Of Our Lives this week. Greg Vaughan broke his silence in a social media post that seemed to indicate he wasn’t happy about the departure. Keep reading for all the details.
Eric & Nicole Leave Town
The love story between Eric Brady (then played by Jensen Ackles) and Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) first began back in 1998. Their decades-long romance took many twists and turns, including multiple breakups and reunions.
In 2012, Greg Vaughan took over the role of Eric Brady when he returned to Salem after a long absence. He had become a priest during his time away, which put the brakes on a reunion with Nicole.. at least for a little while.
Throughout their relationship, Nicole hoped to have a child with Eric someday. She has a child, Holly, with Daniel Jonas (played by Arianne Zucker’s real-life fiance, Shawn Christian.)
Nicole’s dream finally came true but she didn’t know it for months. She was the victim of a baby switch when Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) passed Nicole’s baby off as her own. Even once the baby switch was discovered, Nicole thought E.J. DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) was the father. But the real truth came out this month – Jude is the son of Nicole Walker and Eric Brady. The news prompted the couple to reunite and decide to leave town after E.J. threatened to tell Holly the truth about Daniel’s death.
Greg Vaughan Breaks Silence Over Days Of Our Lives Exit
Fans have known for months that Nicole Walker’s time in Salem was coming to an end. Arianne Zucker was fired from the soap in February amid a sexual harassment lawsuit against a former producer and the Corday Production company that produces the daytime soap.
However, it wasn’t confirmed that Greg Vaughan was leaving too until their exit storyline together became apparent. The actor took to his Instagram after his final episode aired to share his heartbreaking reaction.
He made it clear to his fans that leaving Days Of Our Lives was not his decision. “I didn’t leave by choice, I never had a choice,” he wrote in white letters on a simple black background. He included a broken heart emoji on the message.
Responds To Rumors Eric Will Be Back
This isn’t the first, or even second time, the actor was unceremoniously let go from the soap since his 2012 debut. Will Eric and Nicole finally get their happily ever after or is Eric heading back to Salem sooner rather than later?
Greg Vaughan shared a screenshot of Soap Opera Digest‘s Comings & Goings blurb. Under Goings, it listed the actor but his name was also under the Comings section.
The magazine claimed that a “reliable source” told them that the actor’s exit wasn’t permanent and Eric would be back in Salem eventually.
That seems to be news to Greg Vaughan, who added an “I don’t know” shoulder-shrugging emoji on the screenshot.

I’m going to miss Nicole, but applaud her for sticking to her guns with the lawsuit. Thank heaven Eric is leaving. I can’t stand watching him moon over every little thing. Plus, he definitely inherited the Brady stupid gene. Unfortunately they will probably bring him back. Hope they have better storylines for the character.
This is awful, Nicole and Eric were the only reason I watched Days. I’ve watched this soap ever since it first came out, Nicole and Eric were the best, how could you possinly let them both go? the story line better get good, otherwise, goodbye DOOL
I loved nicole!! she’s the reason I’ve watched days. I’ve waited for her and eric to get back together forever. now that’s just it. How about fire the person that sexually harassed nicole, and keep her!! I can’t watch show without nicole.

I Love ncole she is great actors sheske a lot of days
I hope you will have the good since to get her back
good riddance I never ever liked the character of Nicole and was glad to hear her gone. I been a fan of days of our lives ever since the raven killer took out Renee Dimera and Anna discovered the real tony in the secret room. those are the DAYS when this soap was at its best. characters like Nicole we’re always a cheap knockoff version of the brilliant villainesses of earlier days. goodbye Nicole. good riddance.the character of Eric was always too good for her no matter what. time to pair him with someone better and hopefully bring back the chemistry that super couples has long ago.
to me she was the best actress in the soap, let mevtell you lots of viewers will leave days, first of all now you have to pay to see it. no longer free, aside is only 37 minutes os shows because of so many commercials. I’ve been watching the show off and on since it started and after I went to work used to record it, I’ve invest lot of years on this show and now everyone has to pay it I’m order to continue watching it. I feel bad about what they did to Nicole when at this time she was to me the mayor character along with Eric. Days of our lives will never be the same too much fiction and too many good people leaving. Now with a soap opera inside a soap opera to me that is so boring, body and soul, they should eliminate that from rhe soap opera.
I loved Nicole and Eric as a couple! I think it’s terrible that they let her go. I think if they were getting rid of Eric or keeping him they should not keep him in the dark about it.
I was waiting for the story line to finally unfold and planned on not watching anymore after that happened knowing Nicole was leaving the show.
I have been watching days of our lives since it started. I agree with many that object to paying for the soap.
I will miss both Nicole and Eric as well as all of the others that have already left. Hope they bring them back.
The soap within a soap is stupid to me since the characters are the same as the entire cast. Could do something better. I will continue to watch until they take more of the great characters off or the price goes up. In any case no matter what happens thanks for many years of watching days.
I have been watching this since I was a kid about 12 years old when it began years ago and I’m now 69, with Nicole being fired for the reason she was is just terrible so I guess for me Nicole’s and Eric’s exit means mine too from the show. This is so sad to lose good people and lifelong fans.
I hope Eric comes back and they give him a good storyline for once. Everytime Nicole and Eric were together as a couple, they got boring.
