Simone Biles is expected to win more medals for herself and Team USA at the Paris Summer Olympics this year. She also has one very big fan following her and cheering her along the way. That is her husband, Jonathan Owens, and he seems more than excited to see what his talented wife will do this summer.

However, there are many fans who hate Jonathan thanks to something he said a long time ago. Here is what you need to know.

Why Do Fans Hate Simon Biles Husband?

Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, are a big power couple in the world of athletics. Simone and Jonathan got married on April 22, 2023, at a courthouse in Houston, Texas. They then had their actual wedding in Mexico a few weeks later.

The two had been dating since 2020 and he has been one of his wife’s biggest supporters as she continues to be one of the world’s greatest gymnasts. However, while most people love Simone thanks to her skills on the gym mats, she doesn’t think that is the most important part of her life. For her, it is her marriage to Jonathan.

“Gymnastics is just something I get to come in and have the privilege of doing,” Simone said (via PEOPLE). “I don’t feel like it’s the end all be all anymore, as before I kind of felt like that. I get to go home to my husband, to my dogs, to my house and all of the things. So it feels really good.”

However, there are many fans who hate Jonathan, no matter how much Simone loves him. In 2019, he was interviewed about dating Simone, and he said that he didn’t know who she was when he saw her on a dating app. When asked if she was “a catch,” Owens said that, “I always say the men are the catch.”

That was all it took to turn fans against them.

Jonathan Owens is an NFL football star. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 as an undrafted free agent. A knee injury stalled his career, but in 2024, he signed a two-year deal with the Chicago Bears after playing for both the Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans.

Fans will often see Biles attending the NFL games to watch her husband play. However, when looking at comments on social media, it is clear that her fans don’t approve of the man that she loves.

• “It’s sad he doesn’t realize how lucky HE is. Simone, I hope he’s so good to you.”
• “He should realize SHE’S the catch AND the better athlete, and he’s the one who’ll be known as Mr.Biles/Simone Biles’ husband”

However, Simone Biles doesn’t even seem to care if it is her fans who are saying this. As far as she is concerned, she doesn’t need those fans if they are. “Y’all are blatantly being disrespectful to my relationship & my husband,” she wrote. “So I’m gonna go ahead and say this one time … Respectfully, f*** off.” She also said she would block anyone who disrespects her husband (via PEOPLE).
