‘Jeopardy!’ About To Hit Summer Break, When Will It Return?

Jeopardy! fans are about to hit a break in action as the popular game show is about to hit its summer hiatus. This means that the new episodes will end for a time, and only reruns will be available. While this means reliving things like Adriana Harmeyer, Isaac Hirsch, and Drew Basile’s winning streaks, most fans want new games.

Here is when Jeopardy! is going on hiatus and how long it will last.

Jeopardy! Going On Summer Hiatus In August

The new season of Jeopardy! officially started in April when new players showed up for the first time since the WGA strike of 2023. That season got off to a huge start when Adriana Harmeyer went on a winning streak that put her among the best of all time. Now, with July coming to a close, the show is about to take a midseason hiatus.

The finale will be on Friday, July 26th. After this, there will be no new episodes for over a month. There will be a six-week break, and the show will return in September. While it seems Season 40 was shorter than usual, that is because the first half of the season was returning players since the show couldn’t use new players with the writers on strike.

This means when Jeopardy! returns at the start of September, it will mark the start of Season 41. This is also alarming since very few people received automatic invitations to the annual Tournament of Champions. The good news is there is a loophole that will fix that problem.

Jeopardy! Tournament Of Champions Standings

There are only six players qualified for the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions so far. With only one week to go, there is not likely to be another who qualifies, barring a last-minute run by Neilesh Vinjamuri, who won his first game last Friday. Also, one of the six is the Celebrity Jeopardy! champion, Lisa Ann Walter.

The only other people who have qualified are Adriana Harmeyer (15 wins), Isaac Hirsch (9 wins), Drew Basile (7 wins), Alison Betts (5 wins), and Dr. Amy Hummel (5 wins). Two other players may get invitations: Grant DeYoung (4 wins) and Amar Kakride (4 wins). However, there are still only eight players.

However, the Tournament of Champions will not air until early 2025, and Season 41 will be midway through by then. This change — made last year — means that people from Season 41 will also qualify for the next Tournament of Champions, with the cutoff on New Year’s.

“We now have lots and lots of consecutive weeks of original recipe Jeopardy! until we get to the next ToC,” EP Michael Davies said (via The U.S. Sun).
