‘Survivor’ Jeff Probst Gets Major Comeback At The Emmys
Jeff Probst has made a serious comeback this year at the Emmys. The Survivor host has once again received recognition among other reality TV show stars at the annual awards ceremony. Here is what Jeff Probst had to say about his big comeback, plus future seasons of Survivor.
Jeff Probst Receives His First Nomination In 13 Years
The Survivor host finally made it back into the nominee’s circle for the first time in 13 years. For a long time, Jeff Probst was somewhat of a ringleader in the reality TV show world.
Previously, he was nominated for the Best Reality Host at the Emmy Awards. Jeff won the award in that category four years in a row from 2008 to 2011. This was also the first four years that the category existed at the renowned awards ceremony.
However, since 2011, he has been snubbed from the nominations. RuPaul Charles from RuPaul’s Drag Race went on to double Jeff’s record, winning the category for eight consecutive years. This year is finally the Survivor host’s chance to make a comeback.
He is competing against RuPaul Charles, Alan Cumming (The Traitors), Kristen Kish (Top Chef), and the six hosts of NBC’s Shark Tank. Of course, Jeff Probst and RuPaul Charles were returning nominees. The six Shark Tank hosts have also been nominated for the Best Reality Host award four times in the past. It is the first nomination for Alan Cumming and Kristen Kish.
Survivor only had one other Emmy nomination this year for Best Reality Cinematography. The reality show previously won this category in 2010 for the Heroes vs. Villains installment. It also won Best Non-Fiction Program (2001) and Best Sound Mixing (2001). So, it is up to Jeff Probst to bring home to gold, so to speak.
Jeff Opens Up About The Future Of Survivor
During a red carpet event, Jeff recently talked about the future of Survivor. He shared that the upcoming seasons 47, 48, and 49 would all feature new “players.” Season 50, on the other hand, will be the highly-anticipated returning season.
He said, “I mean, that’s the idea. Let’s make 50 that’s the first time that we bring people back so we can really lean into that and have fun with that.”
Then the host added, “Deciding who’s gonna be on ‘Survivor 50’ will probably be the biggest decision we’ve made in our history of returning player seasons, because we’ve had 700 people play, and we’ve had a couple of hundred of amazing people that you could instantly put on the show. Then you have another 200 that you think, maybe we didn’t see enough of them — maybe we should bring them back. So there’s a lot of potential people.”
Survivor 47 will make its debut on Wednesday, September 18 on CBS.
