Ken Jennings Says ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’ Will Be Hard
When Prime Video announced it was bringing Pop Culture Jeopardy! to the streaming service, many uptight fans lashed out. These fans felt that the show would be “dumbed down” since they consider pop culture questions to be less difficult than other forms of trivia on the show. However, two Jeopardy! producers said that is not the case.
Here is what the producers said about the upcoming spinoff series on Prime Video.
Ken Jennings Says Pop Culture Jeopardy! Will Be Hard
Jeopardy! producers Michael Davies and Sarah Floss have a podcast called Inside Jeopardy! and they talk about all things Jeopardy! on the show. On the Monday episode, they talked about the upcoming Pop Culture Jeopardy! show coming to Prime Video.
While many fans think the show will be easy since it is pop culture-based, those fans seem to forget that some of the smartest Jeopardy! players regularly miss pop culture questions on the main show. Plus, there is nothing that makes a modern-day horror TV question any less necessary than a classic Shakespeare play question.
When asked about the new show, Davies said that Pop Culture Jeopardy! has questions that rank as hard as anything on the main show. “The percentage of scores over a certain number on the pop culture test is exactly the same percentage we see on the regular test,” he said.
He also said that the fact there are three-person teams will also make it more challenging than regular Jeopardy! Each team will have three people working together, making that part easier. All three contestants are three-person teams, meaning the competition will be fierce. “The competition on the buzzer, the competition deep in the categories, it’s pretty intense with that many people competing,” he explained.
That also makes sense. With only three players, there are plenty of times that they all miss a question. On Pop Culture Jeopardy!, with nine players, there is surely going to be much fewer completely missed answers. Sarah also said, “You think pop culture is a specific area but it’s testing knowledge in a new way.”
Who Will Host Pop Culture Jeopardy!?
While the show is coming to Prime Video, the casting call for players just finished. Those choices are being made. As of now, the producers have not announced the host.

While there are many possible choices like Levar Burton, the number one option right now is former Celebrity Jeopardy! standout Katie Nolan. She is a former ESPN host, podcaster, and the runner-up on Celebrity Jeopardy! 2023. When asked, she said she “couldn’t comment,” which is a strong sign she has at least been in discussions.
