Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is back with a new season. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the show, and the season has duos of celebrities working together to answer questions. However, the premiere episode with John Mulaney and Nick Kroll saw the two with a big miss, losing them big money for charity.

Here is what happened at the premiere of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

John Mulaney & Nick Kroll Miss Hard On Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

On the season premiere of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney were paired to answer questions. Kroll is the co-creator of the Netflix animated series Big Mouth. Mulaney is a former Saturday Night Live cast member who voices one of the main Big Mouth characters, Andrew.

The premiere episode featured two halves. After Mulaney and Kroll’s game, the second pairing for the episode was Keenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell of Good Burger.

However, Mulaney and Kroll couldn’t figure it out and lost the $125,000 questions. They did great in the first eight questions without using any lifelines (50:50, Ask the Audience, Phone a Friend, Ask The Host). They then had to use three of those on the $64,000 question. That left no room for help on the next question.

That was: “The stand-out item at a 2024 auction of memorabilia from TV’s Succession was an extra large Burberry tote bag famously described on the show as what?” The options were “A: Hideously expansive, B: Farcically behemoth, C: Ludicrously capacious, D: Grotesquely sprawling.”

They chose “hideously expansive,” but that was not the answer. On Succession, Tom Wambsgans says Greg’s date’s bag was “ludicrously capacious.” Mulaney said it can’t be that famous because they don’t know about it. That was interesting since Succession was one of TV’s most popular shows during its run.

Ironically, the final lifeline was “Ask The Host,” but not even Jimmy Kimmel knew the answer, ending their game.

Who Else Is Appearing On Who Wants to Be a Millionaire This Season?

Fans will have to wait and see if the next celebrity duos will fare any better on the game show. There are plenty of big names coming down the road.

Full House fans will get to see a reunion of John Stamos and Dave Coulier. Ray Romano and Brad Garrett will team up after their starring roles on Everybody Loves Raymond. Zach Braff and Donald Faison will also reunite from Scrubs.
