‘Friends’ Cast Struggling To Celebrate 30th Amid Death Investigation
The Friends cast is currently struggling to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary amid Matthew Perry’s death investigation. It has been hard enough to be excited about this momentous occasion since Perry passed in October 2023. Yet, this added element is just making things even harder for the remaining five cast members. Keep reading for more details.
Friends Cast Struggling To Celebrate 30th Amid Death Investigation
For a decade, the Friends cast was a tight-knit group of six people who dominated the world and television. Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Jennifer Aniston were catapulted to fame in the blink of an eye. Six friends living together and experiencing all life had to offer while simultaneously making the world laugh and cry. They did this for ten years and, when the show ended in 2004, the cast failed to achieve the same fame as they did on Friends.
Yes, they continued to have careers as Aniston did films and now stars on The Morning Show. Cox starred in the highly successful Scream films as well as Cougar Town. LeBlanc got his own Joey spinoff but that failed to launch. Sadly, Matthew Perry dealt with addiction but they all did reunite in 2021 which elated fans. The show was still immensely successful with merchandise, Central Perk coffee, and show pop-ups across the country. Tragically, Perry passed away in 2023 and would not get to see the show turn thirty.

As the cast prepares to celebrate the 30th anniversary, there is an ongoing investigation into his passing. That being said, it has hindered the excitement surrounding the upcoming event. According to In Touch Weekly, an insider shared that the cast is really struggling right now:
“They’re still reeling from the loss of Matthew, so on one hand, the idea of celebrating this anniversary without him is beyond painful. Especially as there will inevitably be questions about his death, especially with this whole investigation now making headlines.”
The hardest part, allegedly, is that Perry was so excited for this milestone, which occurs on September 22nd. He had big ideas of what they should do and now, that cannot happen:
“He had so many ideas about what they should do, so to now go ahead without him is almost too painful for words.”
Moving Forward
Even though Matthew Perry is not around to celebrate this milestone 30th anniversary of Friends, the cast does not want to sweep it under the rug. It appears that they will still try and do something but on a low-key level:
“But at the same time, they do feel it’s important to mark the anniversary somehow and right now they’re in talks to figure out how to do just that with less fanfare.”
Right now, there is an open investigation into Perry’s death with Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife, Brooke Mueller being one of the subjects. Her iPhone and laptop were confiscated though she maintains she had nothing to do with it. They were merely friends who met in rehab while another celebrity has been sourced in the investigation. So, with his death back in the media, it is hard to focus solely on celebrating.
