‘AGT’ Fans Bash Simon Cowell After Criticism Of Young Magician
An illusionist named Young Min performed this week on America’s Got Talent. The act had three of the four judges impressed, but not Simon Cowell. When he explained his thoughts on the performance, he got lots of boos, and fans online were not happy.

Young Min Performs On America’s Got Talent
Young Min is a Korean illusionist who showed up this week on America’s Got Talent and performed an interesting act using sand as a prop. Yong Min stood in a pile of sand and then poured some from his hand, forming different solid objects before dissolving into sand again.
The performance was meditative, with a slowed version of the Chris Isaac song “Wicked Game” (by Ursine Vulpine). When Young Min finished, most of the judges were amazed. Sofia Vergara said that she had never seen anything like it before. Heidi Klum said it was relaxing and mesmerizing. Howie Mandel also said he had never seen anything like it before.
However, when things got to Simon Cowell, he said he wasn’t mesmerized. As the crowd booed him, he said he expected a big finale, and nothing happened. While he was disappointed there wasn’t a big surprise at the end, he said he would still vote “yes” based on Min’s talent.
Simon Cowell Faces Fan Backlash After America’s Got Talent
The fans in the audience booed Simon Cowell, and they were not happy with his criticism. The one thing that seems to be prominent with AGT is that fans in attendance don’t like any criticism of the contestants. When anyone says something as a critique, fans immediately start booing.
There are even moments when Simon Cowell gives helpful advice, and the audience will boo him for it. Fans online also didn’t like what Simon had to say to the young illusionist.
- “Simon needs to give this a chance, pretty sure young Min will get better next round when he’s older, he’s gonna age like fine wine.”
- “It was an awesome performance! Simon always has to go against the grains!”
- “Leave it to Simon on not how to give constructive criticism.”
However, other fans in the YouTube comments agreed with Simon Cowell. Many of the fans understood it wasn’t about the performance itself but about the lack of a satisfying final moment. Some didn’t like the performance since it didn’t look “real,” but most everyone agreed the presentation was why he moved through to the next round.
