The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story tells the shocking story of a woman who found her life turned upside down when she began experiencing a sense that someone was stalking her. She finally survived a harrowing experience with a serial killer in Wichita in the 1970s.

Taking place in Wichita, Kansas, in 1977, Ruth’s life falls apart after her husband Ed suffers a heart attack. At this time, the BTK Killer was in the middle of his reign of terror, and what results is Ruth’s abduction and a series of letters that tormented her.

Soon, law enforcement officials realize that something from her past might explain who is tormenting her. What resulted was a shocking story about a woman who was unable to deal with a traumatic experience and ended up becoming her own tormentor.

The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story premieres on Lifetime on June 29, 2024.

Teri Hatcher stars as Ruth Finley in the movie. She is the most recognizable face in the cast, as she has a long list of film and TV credits to her name. She is best known as Lois Lane in the 1990s series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and as Susan Meyer in Desperate Housewives.

Tahmoh Penikett stars as Ed Finley, Ruth’s husband. He is best known as Karl ‘Helo’ Agathon in Battlestar Galactica and as the fallen angel Gadreel in Supernatural. James Ralph also stars in The Killer Inside as the BTK Killer. Greg Beeman directs the movie. He previously directed Mommy Meanest.

There is currently no trailer for the Lifetime movie.

Ruth Finley finally came to terms with her pain and found help. She appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1994, where she talked about all the things she did as things she remembers but remembers happened. It was this appearance on Oprah that made her story known to the public, and now, 30 years later, her story is a Lifetime movie.
