Family Rallied Around Anna Cardwell In Her Final Days
Viewers are watching as Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell‘s cancer rapidly progresses in recent episodes of Mama June: Family Crisis. On the June 21 episode, June Shannon talks about how she tried to make sure that Anna’s last days were as comfortable as possible.
In the episode, it is shown that Anna’s scans revealed that her treatments were not working. The tumors in her body were continuing to grow and her health was steadily declining.
Mama June called her daughters, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efrid and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, to rally around Anna and help boost her spirits. Pumpkin and Honey Boo Boo put aside their differences with June to be there for Anna. However, she continued to decline and eventually moved in with June.
“I know that Anna’s biggest fear is going to sleep at night and passing away in her sleep,” Mama June told cameras. She said that she and Justin Stroud stayed with Anna past midnight so she would not be alone. All night long, Anna called her, “panicking, messaging the doctors. She hadn’t slept in days.”
“[Her husband] Eldridge brought her to my house at like, three o’clock this morning with her and the girls,” June said. “She wanted me first thing this morning to call hospice, and that’s what I did.”
Mama June Did What She Could To Make Anna Comfortable
June then said that she “moved mountains” to convince the doctors to sign off on the hospice order. “I think that was the best decision that she made,” she said. Mama June noted that many people felt like she was giving up, but that she knew her daughter was tired. In the end, Anna Cardwell’s last wish was to “live out the rest of her days with her family.”
