‘S.W.A.T.’ Fans Make Big Move To Save Show After Third Cancellation

S.W.A.T. fans refuse to go down without a fight. They made a big move to save the cop drama after CBS canceled it for the third time. Keep reading to find out how you can help save the beloved show.
S.W.A.T. Finale ‘Leaves You Guessing’
S.W.A.T. wraps up in May with yet another season finale. It will be the show’s third season finale in as many years. CBS previously canceled the show in 2023 and 2024 before changing course and renewing it. But now the eighth and final season is upon us.
Season 7 was originally meant to be the show’s swan song. It was a shortened season. The writers and cast knew ahead of time that the show was canceled, so they wrapped everything up in a neat bow. But then CBS dropped a bombshell renewal and S.W.A.T. returned earlier this year for Season 8.

The cast and crew hoped CBS would continue the show for more seasons. Unfortunately, the network announced in early March that the show wasn’t renewed and Season 8 would be the last. According to two cast members, the final season won’t end with the loose ends tied up.
Anna Enger Ritch, who plays Officer Zoe Powell, told TV Line that fans will be left unfulfilled by the finale. “It will make you not want this show to end. You’ll want to keep watching what happens. There are so many avenues and directions to go, so many stories to tell, so many personal things,” she said.
Her co-star Annie Ilonzeh, who plays Officer Devin Gamble in Season 8, echoed that sentiment. She said, “We definitely don’t button anything up. We leave you guessing and very curious for more.”
Seems like fans shouldn’t expect to see former L.A. S.W.A.T. officers Street and Alonso’s long-awaited wedding. During his last appearance on the show, Jim Street (Alex Russell) revealed to Hondo (Shemar Moore) that he planned to propose to Christina “Chris” Alonso (Lina Esco.)
Fans Make Big Move To Save Show From Cancellation
S.W.A.T. debuted on CBS in 2017. It consistently brought in high ratings, which only makes its cancellation more confusing. Fans of the show saved it from cancellation twice before. Can they do it a third time?
They’re definitely going to give it a try. A fan petition for CBS to renew the show or for another network to pick it up already has 56,000 signatures. The petition will likely see a huge increase in support because several of the S.W.A.T. cast shared it on social media. Shemar Moore, Annie Ilonzeh, Jay Harrington (Sgt. David “Deacon” Kay,) and David Lim (Officer Victor Tan) all shared the petition on Instagram to help save the show.

The cast refuses to go down without a fight and fans are right there fighting with them. The S.W.A.T. Season 8 two-hour finale airs on May 16. With enough signatures, it might not be the show’s last season on CBS.
