S.W.A.T. Headed To WEtv
Finally, cable fans get to watch S.W.A.T. on WEtv. How did this happen? On Wednesday, The Wrap reported that CBS announced that the popular CBS series is headed to cable through AMC Network’s WEtv. The network signed a licensing deal with Sony Pictures Television. Therefore, this allows the cable channel to air the first six seasons.
Monica Veiga, the Senior Vice President of US Distribution at Sony Pictures Television is thrilled that this explosive series is headed to cable.
S.W.A.T. is one of those high-octane procedurals that continues to captivate audiences and grow in viewership. We’re thrilled to partner with AMC Networks to bring this fan-favorite to their viewers.
When Will WEtv Premiere S.W.A.T.?
S.W.A.T. will air on WEtv starting on Sunday, November 12.
Where Else Besides WEtv Can Viewers Watch S.W.A.T?
Right now, WEtv will air S.W.A.T., but this is not the only place fans can watch The Young and The Restless alum. In addition, fans of the action-packed series can stream it on Netflix and Hulu, as well as on CBS.
Despite being available in several places, Nielsen reports the series averages 6.76 million viewers per episode. Both Nielsen and Netflix report that the first five seasons were in their top ten.
Season 7 Is The Final Season
Despite the new WEtv addition, and continued popularity on Netflix and Hulu, CBS has decided that S.W.A.T. Season 7 will be the final season. This is a far better alternative to the original plan that CBS would end the series with Season 6.
However, the drama is currently paused due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. This strike has been going on for nearly half a year. Although both sides have been meeting at the bargaining table of late, some major points have kept the actors from signing off on a contract.
Therefore, fans have plenty of time to rewatch the series on WEtv until these details are resolved, and the actors begin to work again.
What Is S.W.A.T. About?
This long-running series is based on the classic TV series and movies. Shemar Moore portrays a former marine who is now the S.W.A.T. sergeant, Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson. The Los Angeles native has an important job. He is the leader of the specialized group, which is the last resort in law enforcement. The buck stops here!
He fights to uphold the law while still having some sympathy for his old neighborhood, Hondo battles himself with each new case.
