Just over two years ago, Candace Cameron Bure left Hallmark for Great American Family. This sent a shockwave through the romcom community. Moreover, viewers wanted to know why the Full House star would depart the network where she was Queen of Christmas. Besides her big holiday movies, CCB starred in Aurora Teagarden, a hugely successful mystery series. She also worked with Hallmark on their DaySpring brand. Her departure was perplexing.
However, in a new social media post, the child star defends her reason for leaving the Hallmark Channel.

On Tuesday, Candace Cameron Bure answered some questions on Instagram Stories. A fan asked her why she left Hallmark. CCB shared her reason for leaving the network after a long relationship with them. “It wasn’t so much about leaving as it was about an opportunity to grow a new network that puts faith and family at the forefront of its content. I’m very proud of the work I did at Hallmark for 15 years and love all of my friends there.”
She added, “I’m more than an actor. Growth in my company as well as my achievements in business is extremely important to me.” Therefore, it sounds like she wants to further grow her business. She took this opportunity to expand what she does. That was the basis of her leaving Hallmark.
Hallmark Hunks Figured Out Why CCB Left
Last Christmas, in an interview, the Three Wise Men And A Baby stars were asked about Candace Cameron Bure leaving Hallmark. Andrew Walker correctly told Vulture it was due to business reasons. “I think it was just a good excuse to cover up an opportunity she had somewhere else. Whether she thought she had it less at Hallmark because she’s an executive now over at Great American Family, I don’t know. That’s the way I took it.”
As an actor and entrepreneur, Walker certainly understands why a performer like CCB may decide to leave. This is a business where the savviest of actors spend less time doing other side hustles if they can produce or act in another executive capacity.
CCB is the head of Candy Rock Entertainment which produces her own GAF movies, as well as a few others for the network. In addition, she hosts a podcast.
