‘GMA’ Michael Strahan’s Sick Daughter Left With Cognitive Impairment
Michael Strahan’s daughter Isabella has been dealing with her cancer diagnosis and she just shared some heartbreaking news. Isabella has kept fans in the loop on her cancer treatment, which has included at least twice where she had to have the doctors drill into the back of her head to release fluids.
Now, she has checked in with some distressing news.
Michael Strahan’s Daughter Suffering Memory Loss
Isabella Strahan has checked in this week with her latest news concerning her cancer treatment. Sadly, things are still really tough for the 19-year-old, who said she is suffering memory loss during the cancer treatments. She said this is caused by a new medication she has to take for her treatment.
“I don’t remember Tuesday ’cause I’m given this drug to protect my hearing and just because I have a reaction to it, they give me Ativan,” Isabella said in her latest video. She said that when she takes the medication, she can’t remember anything that happened that day at all.
There was also a scene in the video showing Isabella getting a sandwich she ordered for lunch. She didn’t remember ordering it.
Ativan is a medication used to treat anxiety. Side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, loss of coordination, and more. It is possible the memory loss was caused by the mixture of Ativan and the drug to protect her hearing. Regardless, this seems like a very scary time for the teenager.
However, Isabella had some good news in the video as well. Michael Strahan’s daughter said that she only has one round of chemotherapy left this time around. She said that she should be finished by June and she is ready to get it over with.
“I’m kind of scared like, once I’m done, how am I gonna go back to normal life?” she asked.
Isabella’s Cancer Diagnosis
Isabella, 19, and Michael Strahan, 52, announced her diagnosis in January. She said that she didn’t know anything was wrong and she was preparing to start college. However, in October, she started to get headaches and nausea. She said she couldn’t walk straight.
She has been undergoing treatment as she hopes to return to college, but things have been tough. She thought she was getting better but then began suffering from migraine headaches and finally learned she had fluid in her brain. This meant that they had to drill a small hole in the back of her skull to drain the fluid.
She had to have this done twice so far. In April, she had her third brain surgery and she continues with the chemotherapy treatments. She has kept a brave face as she makes her YouTube videos for fans, but it is getting hard for her to deal with.
