‘Yellowstone’ Finally Returns To Production For Final Episodes
The delays of the final Yellowstone episodes caused harsh feelings between star Kevin Costner and the producers. The delays threatened to interfere with Costner’s upcoming movie. As a result, he said he would leave and they could kill off his character. Now, it is time to see what happens at the end of the story. Production has finally started on the final episodes.
Here is what you need to know about the final Yellowstone episodes.
Yellowstone Starts Shooting Final Episodes
Paramount announced on May 20 that they finally started production on the final half of Yellowstone’s Season 5. The show shoots in Montana and it looks like they will finish in time for the final episodes to start airing in November 2024. This is one year later than its expected release, which was delayed for numerous reasons.
The Writer’s Strike was the main reason the scripts were not completed on time. However, Kevin Costner pointed out other problems that led to the delays and things started rolling downhill from there concerning his relationship with the production team. With that said, Paramount said the story will still follow the Dutton family in the final episodes.
The release said to expect “shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect” (via PEOPLE). The struggles come from an “expanding town, an Indiana reservation, and America’s first national park.”
However, the one thing the announcement left out was who was coming back for the final episodes. This means that no one knows if Kevin Costner will return as patriarch John Dutton. Costner said he was willing to return, but his war of words with creator Taylor Sheridan might have ruined that.
Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone Return Still Unknown
There is no word on whether Kevin Costner will return as John Dutton on Yellowstone. He is an important part of the story, so the only way to really move on without him is to kill his character, but would the show do that with only a few episodes remaining?
Costner complained that “unfinished scripts” and “scheduling conflicts” caused the delays. He said that producers tried to make him look like the cause of the problems, but he said it wasn’t true. He also said he tried to work things out with Taylor Sheridan but “we didn’t get there.” Costner also said that members of the crew not sticking up for him rubbed him the wrong way.
Costner has a new movie coming out called Horizon, which is a Western epic split into two parts. Sheridan claims that Costner prioritized the movie over Yellowstone, which the actor denied.
