Kathy Swarts Shares Conditions For Golden Bachelorette
ABC doesn’t seem to have a shortage of candidates for a Golden Bachelorette spinoff. Several contestants from Season 1 of Golden Bachelor have expressed interest in a second chance at love on reality TV.
The network previously confirmed that the Golden Bachelorette will air this fall. However, they haven’t released any new information, including who will star. Susan Noles and her Golden Bachelor bestie, Kathy Swarts, have both admitted they would love to be the one chosen.
Non-Bachelor Nation possibilities include soap star Susan Lucci and former talk show host Kathie Lee Gifford. But the most likely scenario is the role will go to one of Gerry Turner’s exes, maybe even his soon-to-be ex-wife, Theresa Nist.
Kathy Swarts talked to PEOPLE magazine recently about the possibility of finding love in the popular dating franchise. She confirmed that she would gladly accept the role if offered. But there’s a catch.
She said she wasn’t sure the network could find enough eligible bachelors to meet her criteria. “I am an incredibly active, adventurous person and I think they would have a hard time finding 20-some odd guys that could keep up with me,” she dished.
What She Would Do Different Than Gerry Turner
Kathy Swarts had a front-row seat to Gerry Turner falling in love with Theresa Nist on The Golden Bachelor. She thinks she knows exactly where they went wrong.
According to the Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour podcast co-host, Gerry and Theresa rushed into marriage before they took the time to get to know each other.
“I just think for me, I’d want to be engaged longer,” Kathy said of what she’d do differently.
But she won’t have any hard feelings if the network goes with someone else. They can count on her as a viewer. “It’ll be fun to watch love unfold from a woman’s perspective,” she said.
In fact, she would be open to dating some of the “rejects.” She joked, “I’m willing to take sloppy seconds.”
ABC might announce more details about the Golden Bachelorette spinoff soon. Or they might wait until after Jenn Tran’s season airs this summer.
Season 21 of The Bachelorette premieres on Monday, July 8, 2024.
