The most recent episode of The Amazing Race has people mad and confused at a recent decision. The show pulled out an obscure production rule that had a major effect on the outcome and it eliminated a team in a manner that many people felt was unfair. Now, they want the rule changed for the future.

Here is what happened in The Amazing Race and what rule was deemed unfair.

Amazing Race Team Eliminated Thanks To ‘Unfair’ Rule

The eliminated Amazing Race team spoke out about the elimination in a kind manner. However, this rule eliminating them seems unfair and needs changed. Here is what happened. Mother and son team, Angie and Danny Butler were racing to the Detour when they lost their crew.

However, what they didn’t know — and what seemed to be a shock for viewers watching at home — this is not allowed. An obscure rule requires you to reunite with your crew before continuing to the next location. This meant that Danny and Angie had to sit at the Detour and wait while everyone else passed them by, while their crew took forever to show up.

This caused their elimination. It had nothing to do with Angie and Danny Butler, who were more than fast enough to stay in the competition. They lost because their crew got lost. The production team for The Amazing Race blamed Angie and Danny for the crew getting lost. The preview even said they made a “crucial mistake.”

However, The Amazing Race’s story has some problems.

The Amazing Race Crew Was Completely Lost

The Amazing Race pointed out that Angie made “an illegal turn” in a roundabout. This seems to be when they got separated from the crew. However, the fact they were separated does not excuse the crew taking so long to get to them at the Detour.

The moment they got lost, the distance to the Detour was 20 minutes. Even if they separated from the crew because of something Angie did, it should only have taken them 30 minutes to get to the meeting spot. It took the crew an hour and a half to get there (via Us Weekly).

It also seems the production team had Danny lie about what was happening so they could air that on the episode. “They had me say the line like, ‘Hey, our crew is here.’ Our crew wasn’t there,” Danny said. “I don’t know why they decided — maybe it’s because we had waited so long.”

Danny said they got a different crew and had them accompany them to the beach. While the contestants might have made a mistake, there should never be a chance for the actual production crew to cost a team the game.
