The Today Show meteorologist and fan favorite Al Roker was missing from the Monday, May 6th show due to a family crisis. What happened and is everything okay? More so, will this keep him out for a long period of time? Keep reading for all of the details.
Al Roker Has Family Crisis, Missing From Monday Show
Whenever Al Roker is missing from the Today Show, fans immediately get nervous. He has dealt with so many health issues that kept him off of the show. Additionally, he has tried his hand at other passion projects and became a grandfather. There are a lot of things going on in his life that can keep him away for short or long stretches of time. On Monday, May 6th, 2024, viewers were shocked not to see Al’s smiling face and wondered where he was. Was everything okay and when would he be back?
According to Us Weekly, he had a family crisis to deal with. The beloved pup he shares with his wife, Deborah Roberts, Pepper, underwent emergency surgery. Al shared the details via his Instagram, along with a slideshow of the couple holding sweet Pepper at the vet:
“Our little girl, Pepper had emergency surgery but is on the mend. She’s getting great care and is coming home tomorrow. Woof. You can sleep on our bed as much as you want.”
It was evident by the photos that Deborah Roberts and Al Roker adore Pepper and she is their little furry baby. They would go to the ends of the Earth for her so it makes sense that Al would want to be at home with her, especially after all of the stress that must’ve occurred with the surgery.

Deborah also shared her own post about Pepper having their heart for twelve years now. More so, she and Al were grateful for any and all prayers coming their way for their furbaby. During the pandemic, Pepper served as a guest weather dog alongside Al and it cheered up the studio.

After followers saw why Al Roker had been absent, they sent nothing but love to him, Deborah Roberts, and Pepper:
