The Price Is Right Interrupted For ‘Breaking News’

On Thursday, The Price Is Right was interrupted during its regularly scheduled time due to a breaking news report. This often happens with daytime television shows, but fans often grow tired of what the networks consider to be “breaking news.”

Thursday’s newsbreak covered President Joe Biden’s speech about the recent protests that have been happening on college campuses across the country. Although fans understood the need for coverage at the press conference, they believed it could’ve waited until The Price Is Right was over for the day. After all, the news wasn’t necessarily urgent.

One disgruntled viewer called it “a disaster of programming” in a post on XA second viewer tweeted, “BOOOO, PUT THE PRICE IS RIGHT BACK ON.” A third person tweeted, “Aw h*ll nah they interrupted the price is right.” Another viewer wrote, “The people want to watch Plinko,” which was the game the press conference interrupted.

However, the beloved game show wasn’t interrupted everywhere. This only happened in certain locations throughout the United States. Several fans revealed that their CBS stations handled breaking news differently so their broadcast of The Price Is Right wasn’t impacted.

One person pointed out that their local CBS station shared those news reports online rather than cutting into regularly scheduled shows. “That’s smart,” replied another fan, “Wish everywhere was like that.”

Another fan said that the entire show wasn’t cut off. While there were some games they missed in the middle of The Price Is Right, it returned before Showcase Showdown. This is a fan-favorite part of the game show where the round’s three players get up to two spins on the iconic giant wheel.

Fans Have Been Slamming Drew Carey Online

This isn’t the only issue fans have been piping up about online recently. They expressed their dislike of how Drew Carey spoke to one of the contestants about his job this week.

In the episode, Drew asked the contestant, whose name was Jack, about what he did for a living. He revealed that he worked with the family business, which made labels. It seemed like Drew Carey poked fun at the contestant for his job, indicating that it wasn’t very exciting.
