Donnie Wahlberg Reveals Feelings About ‘Blue Bloods’ Canceling
After the sad news that Blue Bloods would be concluding after the current season, fans were devastated. However, now Donnie Wahlberg has revealed how he feels about the long-running TV series canceling.
Donnie Wahlberg And Bridget Moynahan Discuss Blue Bloods With Drew
Currently, Blue Bloods is in its 14th and final season. Sadly, it was on the chopping block by the network in November. On Tuesday, Donnie and co-star, Bridget Moynahan, were guests on The Drew Barrymore Show. During the episode, they discuss the concluding episodes of Blue Bloods. Undeniably, CBS fans first fell in love with the Reagans, a family of law enforcement officials in New York City, during their 2010 premiere. Within the series, Donnie plays Detective Danny Reagan. Furthermore, Bridget is his on-screen sister, Erin, a bureau chief in the District Attorney’s Office. Although the news of the cancelation was delivered months ago, the cast is still having a difficult time.
Drew Barrymore Digs In To The Emotions Surrounding The Cancelation
During The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew checks in about how everyone is coping with the transition. She comments, “I think everybody’s really upset and sad, but also happy and satiated.” However, Donnie Wahlberg was quick to interject, “More upset and sad.” Agreeably, Bridget Moynahan also nods. But co-host, Ross Mathews, asks the actors to further discuss the emotions they are having with “saying goodbye to these characters.” Notably, Donnie also told Kelly Clarkson on The Kelly Clarkson Show it has been hard to stomach because he adores the people he works with and doesn’t want to see it end.
Undeniably, it is difficult since they have portrayed their characters for almost 15 years. Without a doubt, the cast is a close-knit group. Admittedly, Bridget says, “I think it’s more saying goodbye to the people behind the characters.” Then she explains, “We’ve created such a family on set with each other and the crew.” Further elaborating, “Most of the crew’s been with us for 14 years, so we’ve been through a lot of weddings, births, deaths, and everything.” Notably, discussing the tears in their hearts, she adds, “We’ve been through it all with each other.”
Fans Aren’t Happy About The Cancelation
While Donnie Wahlberg and the rest of the Blue Bloods cast are heartbroken and angry to see the end nearing, they aren’t the only ones. Undoubtedly, CBS fans have grown to love the characters as well. Additionally, some fans are pleading with CBS to reconsider their cancelation of the beloved show.
- “I know all good things must come to an end, just not yet, please,” one fan says.
- “Looks like the entire cast wants more.”
- “I hope CBS reconsiders and gives them a full season.”
Donnie Wahlberg And Other Cast Hope The Fate Changes
But Donnie Wahlberg isn’t the only one angry and sad over the network’s decision to cancel. In an interview with USA Today, Tom Selleck describes the latest season of Blue Bloods. He says, “They say it’s an eight-episode wind-down, and I say, ‘We’ll see.’” Holding out hope for continuation, Tom expresses, “Look, I’ll do whatever is best for the whole situation, but I love this show, obviously.” Supporting CBS revisiting their decision, he adds, “And I think CBS is going to end up being very conflicted with their present plans.” Additionally, the actor acknowledges there are many people upset with the decision and it will require everyone to wait and see what happens from here.
Blue Bloods airs on CBS on Fridays at 10/9c. The final season will air in two parts. First, Part 1 is currently airing with the finale scheduled for May 17. Then, Part 2 will begin airing on CBS in the fall.
