Tori Spelling Admits Being ‘Swayed’ To Dislike Shannen Doherty
Tori Spelling admits to being “swayed” to dislike former Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star, Shannen Doherty. The two starred in the hit FOX series for four seasons before Doherty departed. Now, they are opening up about what caused tension between the two and if they have moved beyond it all. Keep reading for more details.
Tori Spelling Admits Being ‘Swayed’ To Dislike Shannen Doherty
Being on Beverly Hills, 90210, it was all about a group of very close friends who went from high school to college and what came after. In the midst of it all, they experienced the highs and lows that come with growing up. At the same time, the cast had its own ups and downs but the series managed to last ten seasons and spawn the most popular spinoff, Melrose Place. With twenty-four years having gone by since the series finale, some friendships have mended while others are still fractured.
Tori Spelling recently opened up about her formerly strained relationship with Shannen Doherty. They played Donna Martin and Brenda Walsh respectively. Over the last several years, Doherty has battled cancer, which she was first diagnosed in 2015. Her former co-stars rallied around her to show their support and now, Tori is chiming in. She joined Doherty for her podcast, Let’s Be Clear, and they revisited their trials and tribulations on BH90210. According to People, Tori admittedly was “swayed” by the people around her to like or dislike Doherty “because it’s like one minute, we were friends, and then one minute we weren’t.”

Both ladies agreed that Tori Spelling went with the wind and Shannen Doherty shared:
“You were always easily swayed. And it was very frustrating for me because I always used to tell you like, ‘Yeah, Tor, have an opinion.’ Like, you’re smart, you’re funny, you’re talented. I loved you and I respected you and I wanted you to believe in yourself as much as I believed in you.”
Additionally, they chatted about a bad relationship Tori was in during this time. For Doherty, it was too much for her to watch as this man was very toxic. The ladies went on a trip together with their men and that was when things really turned. Doherty added:
“And all I can think is that because you didn’t break up with him. You stayed and you got tortured for a little bit longer.”
Getting A Voice
Another issue was Tori Spelling’s lack of voice which she admits she still says she struggles with:
“I’m sorry. I couldn’t [speak up]. I still can’t speak up for myself sometimes — at 50. I think when I was young, it was whoever was the alpha more at the moment would sway me. And I think I couldn’t stand up for myself … I didn’t take ownership of anything. So it’s like, you know, nice, nice, nice to everyone. But it’s like you said, have a f—ing opinion about something. And I’m sure I did.”
It seems that, even though they still struggle to pinpoint the moment that their friendship came to a halt, it is all in the past. The women are moving forward and trying to make the most of the time they have together.
Are you happy to have them back together? More so, do you think Shannen was too strong-willed for a young Tori Spelling? Let us know in the comments below.
