Gerry Turner & Theresa Nist Discuss Their Split
Golden Bachelor stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist got married in January 2024.
“I promise to shout the ‘I love yous’ by day, and whisper them softly at night. I promise to keep you safe. And I promise to make you feel comforted in difficult times and abundantly joyful in great times,” Gerry said in his vows to Theresa. Those promises didn’t last long though.
On Friday, April 12, the Golden Bachelor couple appeared on Good Morning America to make an announcement about their relationship. Fans have been speculating for weeks that Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist were no longer together. Their announcement this morning confirmed that.
Gerry said that they have chosen to “dissolve” their marriage at this time, citing their living situation as the reason why. While Theresa and Gerry both said that they are still in love, they don’t think staying in a committed relationship makes sense for them right now.
The Golden Bachelor is still residing at his lake house in Indiana. His estranged wife is living in New Jersey. Previously, the couple spoke about moving to Charleston, South Carolina. However, they were never able to come to an agreement on where they should move.
The Golden Bachelor Couple Has Been Fighting Since The Wedding
Despite being “100 percent committed to making it work,” they were not able to find a home they both wanted to move into together. They did search for properties, but nothing seemed right. “We looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision,” Theresa said.
In addition to their living situation, the Golden Bachelor couple admitted that their families played a role as well.
“The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it’s been how dedicated both of us are to our families,” Gerry Turner further explained. “So we look at these conversations and we both think it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart.”
A source close to Gerry and Theresa told People “It was never going to work.” The main reason for this was that “they never lived together,” the insider said.
“Things have been tough for months,” they added. “They’ve been fighting since right after the wedding.”
