Did ‘Golden Bachelor’ Gerry Turner & Theresa Nist Have A Prenup?
Golden Bachelor couple Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner announced they’re divorcing after three months of marriage. Did the wealthy seniors sign a prenup before walking down the aisle? Keep reading for the answer to the burning question on everyone’s minds.
Bachelor Nation Fans Think Gerry Turner Chose Theresa Nist For Her Money
Right before the Golden Bachelor finale aired, The Hollywood Reporter put Gerry Turner on blast with an expose claiming, in part, that he wasn’t as wealthy as he claimed on the show. He side-stepped the allegations and his wedding to final rose winner Theresa Nist went on as planned.
However, Theresa Nist was encouraged to get a prenup before walking down the aisle. With the couple announcing their divorce just three months after marrying, did she heed the advice?
Did They Have A Prenup?
Juju Chang interviewed Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner on Good Morning America on Friday, April 12. The two made the surprising announcement on the morning news program that they had decided to seek a divorce.
Their wedding aired on ABC on January 4, just three months earlier. The former couple cited logistics as the reason for the split. Neither wanted to move away from their families in Indiana (Gerry) or New Jersey (Theresa.)
After the interview aired, Juju Chang revealed that the topic of the prenup did come up during the interview. According to Life & Style, she confirmed that yes, they did sign the document before legally marrying.
Fans Speculate Why The Golden Bachelor Couple Rushed Wedding
Juju Chang grilled the Golden Bachelor couple during their GMA interview, pointing out that they’d only been married for three months. They were only officially engaged for weeks before the Golden Wedding.
Bachelor Nation fans took to Reddit to debate why Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist rushed into marriage. Check out some of the responses:
- It seemed like Theresa really loved planning a big wedding. I imagine as you get older it can feel like there’s no time to waste and they just went full throttle. Long engagements are great but in your 70s it’s kind of like… why wait
- Those big wigs promise them a huge ceremony and reception that they probably weren’t going to pull off on their own, and the production company foots the bill.
- think they were under contract tbh. The producers probably wanted them to get married while the hype was still there. It’s not like this show has anyone’s best intentions at heart lol
- They were offered a free wedding. They probably thought if they turned down the January wedding, there was no guarantee that ABC would offer it again.
- i wonder if they had issues before the getting married thing but had pressure to go through with it from the producers?
Well, at least they signed a prenup to protect their financial assets. Why do you think Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist rushed down the aisle? Sound off in the comments.

I speak as a widowed 81 year old senior citizen Where a couple is going to live is very important and should be discussed and agreed upon before he proposed to her. I also think that they rushed into marriage . Short term engagements usually do not work out. They should have lived together for at least six months before marriage to see how good the chemistry is with each other. I also believe a pre nuptial agreement should be mandatory in most circumstances and you must have good communication with each other to have a great relationship.
