Former San Fransico NFL player O.J. Simpson has passed away.

While generations of Americans remember O.J. Simpson as a great actor and football star, his legacy was later marred by the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. Although the court found Simpson not guilty of the crimes, many believe he committed them and got away with everything.

O.J. Simpson’s Family Announces His Passing And Asks For Privacy

Orenthal James Simpson was first married to Marguerite L. Whitley in 1967 with whom he had three children. They divorced in 1979, and Simpson later married Nicole Brown in 1985. They had two children together before divorcing in 1992.

Nicole’s murder happened in 1994, kicking off the infamous O.J. Simpson trial. The court case spanned for 11 months before eventually concluding on October 3, 1995.

As in many celebrity death cases, the family announced his passing to the public through his social media.

In early 2024, the family publicly announced Simpson was battling prostate cancer. His family shared on social media that he passed away on April 10, 2024 from the disease.

“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer,” his surviving family tweeted from his account today. “During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. -The Simpson Family.”

The family restricted the replies on the account for clear reasons. Although Simpson was beloved by his family members, many members of the public still considered him to be a highly controversial figure.

The Last Several Decades Were Tumultuous For The NFL Player

O.J. Simpson wasn’t convicted on murder charges for Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. However, a jury did find him guilty of wrongful death and battery against Goldman, as well as battery against Nicole. As a result, Simpson was ordered to pay  $33,500,000 in damages.

Many Kardashian fans are aware of the family’s link to the Simpsons. Family patriarch Robert Kardashian was a close friend of O.J. Simpson’s and served as one of his defense lawyers during his trial. Kris Jenner was also incredibly close with Nicole Brown Simpson. Kendall Nicole Jenner was named in her honor.

As of the time of writing, Kris Jenner has not publicly made an announcement about O.J. Simpson’s passing. Over the next several days, fans expect members of the Kardashian family to make statements on the matter.
