‘Today’ Hoda Kotb Shares Sweet Message For Grieving Friend
Hoda Kotb shared a message for a grieving friend this week and Today fans thought it was very sweet. She had a few personal things on her mind in March, which makes it seem like a very kind act.
Hoda Kotb Fans Like Her Caring Heart
In the first week of March, some worrying news arrived about Hope, the host’s four-year-old child who had a medical problem in February. Hope ended up in the ICU, but her mom’s not the kind of person to splash her children’s intimate problems out on social media. So, fans respect her for that. She seems like a caring and loving mom to her kids, who were adopted by Hoda and her ex, Joel Schiffman.
From Hoda Kotb‘s 2019 book, I Really Needed This Today: Words To Live By, her fans know that she often refers to inspirational quotes. For example, Buddha’s “One moment can change a day, one day can change a life, and one life can change the world.” Knowing that quote possibly helped her share an act of kindness for a friend who lost their mom.
After talking with @drewbrees on @todayshow @hodakotb shared with us a moment of humanity. Watching her made me cry. The first tears I have shed over this fearful, anxiety ridden, unknown time. I’ve been so appreciative of the information they have shared and … pic.twitter.com/i9zhGWHptf

Today Host Shares A Special Message For Her Sad Friend
On March 27, the Today talk show co-host took to her Instagram and shared a reel of Ed Sheeran singing Supermarket Flowers. In her caption, she said, “A friend of mine lost her mom yesterday. Hope Ed sheeran reminds her that she is not alone❤️.”
Hoda Kotb’s song means a lot to talk show fans because it includes the words:
So I’ll sing Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
When I fell down you’d be there holdin’ me up
Spread your wings as you go
And when God takes you back
He’ll say, “Hallelujah, you’re home.”
In the comments section of the post, Today fans shared their own experiences and they sent their love to those grieving:
- What a kind and thoughtful friend you are to share this to ease her suffering, even if for just a moment. Losing your mom, no matter the age, changes us at our core. Praying for your friend as she navigates this grief journey.❤️
- I lost my mom a year ago and this song always reminds me of her.
- So sorry to hear about your Friend’s loss. 💔. If you’re blessed to have your Mom, call her, hug her, tell her you love her today. I lost my Mom and it’s so painful. I miss her everyday. ❤
