Keith Urban To Join Singing Competition Show
Keith Urban is making his return to reality television this season. The country music megastar will be part of the singing competition show he previously left. This is all happening shortly before Keith Urban is set to release his latest album.
Keith Urban’s Reality Show Experience
Keith Urban is no stranger to reality television. He has appeared on both The Voice and American Idol. The “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer was an “advisor” to the former star of The Voice Blake Shelton. He was also a coach for seasons one, 10, and 11 of Australia’s version of the show.
Keith Urban also was a judge on American Idol. He was a judge for a total of four seasons, seasons 11 through season 15. He returned to American Idol for the season’s finale as a guest mentor in season 21.
The New Role Of Keith Urban
The new role of the “Somewhere In My Car” singer will be taking on is that of a “Mega Mentor” on The Voice. He will be helping the contestants who made it through the battle round. He will also be helping them as they prepare for the knockout rounds.
With all the complaints about The Voice being “too country,” this may not be the best move the show’s producers could have made. It is more than likely this choice was made long before all the complaints started pouring in.
How Will The Fans React?
With complaints already voiced all over the many social media outlets about The Voice being too country, it is unlikely the hiring of Keith Urban will change that. Fans have not been shy about wanting to get rid of Reba McEntire and getting Blake Shelton back.
It seems a bit unusual to accuse a reality television show of being too country and demanding to fire a country artist only to have that artist replaced with another country artist. It is possible Urban is seen as good compromise. Seeing The Voice has been unable (or unwilling) to have Blake Shelton return, the “Somebody Like You” singer might just be a way to appease the unhappy fans.
Perfect Timing For Keith Urban
This could be the perfect time for Keith Urban to get more television time. The country music superstar will be releasing his latest album around the time he will be appearing on The Voice. This album is a follow-up to his The Speed of Now Part 1 from 2020.
Keith Urban has already released two songs from this still unreleased album. “Messed Up As Me” is one of those singles. The other song is “Straight Line.”
Tell us what you think. Are you excited to see Keith Urban return to The Voice? Will his role as “Mega Mentor” only make the show even more country than it already is? Sound off in the comment section below.
