‘RHOP’ How Did Mia Thornton Make Her Money?
Mia Thornton has made it no secret that she loves money and the things it can buy. The Real Housewives of Potomac star has even admitted that she married her now ex-husband for his deep pockets. When she talks about her life before marrying Gordon, she often refers to how much she was able to make in one night. So, it is clear that money talks in her world, but how did Mia Thornton make her money before she appeared on the Bravo show? Here’s everything you need to know.
Mia Thornton Had Money Of Her Own Before Meeting Gordon
Dr. Wendy Onyinye Osefo and others have asked Mia if she only married Gordon for “financial reasons.” Many people might be surprised to know that Mia Thornton had a bag of her own before she met Gordon and married him in 2012. In fact, she was pretty well off financially before they tied the knot.
The RHOP star has said that when she worked as a stripper she would make $10,000 “on a slow night.” However, that’s not where Mia really made her money.

The Real Housewives star shared, “Now, did I have more money when I was coming into the relationship with Gordon? Yes. But mine was on inheritance. People are going to think what they want to think, regardless, because I’m young and beautiful, and he’s an older guy, so we let people think what they want to think.”
When asked about her finances in a later interview she clarified, “OK, so there’s a difference between cash and assets. So, at that time, did I have more cash in the bank than Gordon did? Yes, abso-freaking-lutely.”
Even though Mia Thornton had money of her own when she entered the marriage, fans weren’t shocked when she revealed that her relationship with Gordon was reliant on cash. She told reporters at BravoCon, “We all know that! That’s just who I am.”
Money Was The Reason The RHOP Star Left Her Husband
Mia and Gordon Thornton have recently decided to go their separate ways after 11 years of marriage. When it came down to it, the reason for their divorce was money.

“The relationship between Gordon and I has definitely changed. Ever since Gordon was voted out of the family business, he’s been working a lot more so it is causing a lot of tension inside of our marriage,” Mia said. “And, to me, spending time with the kids and having balance is so much better than us always working, and then we look up and our kids are grown.”
Right now, it isn’t clear what Mia plans to do for cash now that she’s leaving her wealthy hubby. She may decide to return to dancing or the RHOP star may choose a different money-making path. Only time will tell.
