CBS Soaps, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, are set to undergo big schedule changes this week. So, what is going on with these two soaps in particular and what should viewers expect? Read on for more details.

CBS Soaps B&B, Y&R Undergo Big Schedule Changes This Week

Fans have come to depend on The Bold and the Beautiful and the drama of The Young and the Restless. It airs Monday through Friday so the characters feel like family and friends, even exciting enemies. This week on the popular CBS soaps, a lot is happening. With B&B, Hope makes a decision on marriage but causes a fallout she may not have expected. At the same time, Luna struggles with not knowing her father. Over at Y&R, Billy has an offputting meetup with Ashley while Chelsea looks at herself for Connor’s problems. Finally, Claire gets to connect with her new family.

Unfortunately, only three episodes will air this week as March Madness is taking over on Thursday, March 21st, and Friday, March 22nd. This is not thrilling to soap fans who want to know what the rest of the week’s episodes will bring. They even started a Reddit thread to vent their frustrations over the schedule change. The OP wrote this:

  • Just a reminder there will be no Y&R and B&B next Thursday the 21st and Friday the 22nd due to the College Basketball tournament.

Immediately after this was posted, CBS soap fans shared their thoughts on the schedule change and the three-day show week. Interestingly enough, as bummed as many were, some were actually relieved over it all:

  • So only 3 days of the same dialogue instead of 5. I’ll take it.
  • One of the worst weeks of the year
  • Ugh! I hate sports 🤢
  • They should have their own channel & stop taking ours. I love my y & r & B & b cannot get enough.
  • And damn you to he** ESPN, FOX Sports, NBC Sports, and TNT for submitting a lower bid than CBS Sports for the right to broadcast the college basketball tournament.

Time For Spring

Despite the schedule change, one person noted that since it was happening during Spring Break, maybe they should go outside. However, others clearly felt that March Madness had no place on CBS where their soaps lived. More so, they believed it should air on an all-sports network for those who really are interested in this kind of content. Luckily, it is only for two days and then it will be back to its regularly scheduled programming.

Are you upset about The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless being preempted for March Madness? Or, do you understand it and are dealing with it just for this week? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I hate sports not everyone likes it. Why should our shows have to stop because of those sport events?

      1. I think sports should have its own channel year around for any kind of sports. Sports messes with alot of shows.

    1. Iris I totally agree with you! There are so many sports stations, why can’t they show it on those stations!

  2. I also think March Madness and all sports should be on the Sports only Networks. Please stop preempting or making changes to our daily Soaps schedule.

  3. Whinners! This happens every year in March. You will not miss anything it takes almost an entire week for the storyline. Sports makes more money than Y&R & B&B. Looking forward to the break. Love college sports.

    1. Agreed with you. I don’t watch sports a lot but I’ll deal with it. It’s just baseball. I’ll manage to find something else to watch on tv

    2. Like everything else in the world, follow the money. Wish I could say I am surprised at the schedule changes, but I’m not. The networks “love” the fans and viewers, until it comes to their paychecks.

  4. Leave daytime television alone. If they must broadcast sports put it on a network that broadcasts nothing but sports. The networks already ruin weekends with their sports crap!

  5. As long as it’s for two days this week..it will give me time to watch daytime talk shows and other soaps…but williss my y&r and b & b..come back on Monday 03/25/24

  6. I agree with the fans that March Madness should be put on one of the sports channels and not make changes in our daily schedules.

    1. you cannot be serious?! You are aware women like sports right? Let’s be clear networks like money…sports bring in
money. Match Madness happens every year.

  7. Why can’t they broadcast this in the afternoon after the soaps. Then everyone is happy. Either that or put it on an all sports channel.

  8. Honestly, the guys that watch basketball should be working during the day. Leave the soaps on for us retired ladies!

  9. I don’t like it that sports take over anywhere and anytime they want. There’s so many sports stations
I enjoy watching the soap operas

  10. I will miss my soaps, but looking forward to watching Florida Atlanta University play basketball 🏀. I am use to March Madness taking over. Think how exciting next week will be to find out what happens after the long cliff hanger. Looking forward to The Gates soap opera, please don’t compete time slot with General Hospital. I Love ❤️ my soaps and I Love men running around a basketball court. Wheeeeeeeee

  11. I’ve never cared for sports. I do care for daytime soap opera drama. I’ll live, even though these are the only two regularly produce TV shows I watch anymore. it’ll all be over soon enough.

  12. I’m extremely upset I barely get through the weekend I wish they were both an hour long without commercials

  13. I think it is total BS to take all Young and the restless and bold and the beautiful off for some dumb basketball game get your own channel and leave CBS alone
