Jamie Michael Hemmings and Jilea Hemmings founded the market and planned to make healthy eating accessible and hassle-free. To do this, they created a frictionless shopping experience.
The Nourish and Bloom Market contains everyday essentials, fresh market finds, and local foods. They also feature some very innovative designs, including smart doors, satellite outlets, and micro-markets, so there is no need for checkout lines. People grab what they need and leave. This is all accomplished through an app shoppers download and use on their shopping trips.
Once the app is downloaded, the shopper adds their payment information and they scan a QR code to begin shopping in the store. When they leave the store, they are automatically checked out and an e-receipt is sent to them. Customers can also shop online and choose to pick it up at the store or have it delivered.
On top of the regular market essentials, there is also a bistro based on scratch cooking. They offer everything from rice and quinoa bowls to gourmet sandwiches.
The Hemmings started by creating Greenie Tots, an organic food company geared toward kids. They then got the idea for the market and teamed up with Microsoft, USC Technologies, Nova Dynamics, and Intel. This led them to create the AI needed for the store’s advanced tech. With that said, they still have a human touch, with employees in store to help customers.
